Wow.... Really?!

Ok.. you asked for it.

Hey Barry... what do you weigh? 132lbs soaking wet? And you ride a 3" inch thick 6'2"x24" board? Shocking you never have a problem surfing ankle high waves and advancing.

If Big Fred paddled out and farted, you'd score Perfect 10's riding the shockwave.

How about this?
You surf you're next heat against me with a 75lbs weight on your back.
(Yes.. if you perfer, you can just wear Albert... although I'm not sure he's quite 75lbs.)
Then we'll see how keen you are for a Repo. :D

All I'm saying is, it's nice when there is a safety net when the waves don't cooperate. It's a "surf" contest... it's hard to compete when you can't "surf" because you have one of those flukey heats with nooooooo waves. (Happens to me every freaking year.   )
And low-tide, onshore HB could get tricky.

EQ

P.S. Speaking of contests... I'm still trying to figure out how You, Baker, and Saffon couldn't score in the 9's in your final last year?
I mean... Gavin got two in the first 10 minuets of the heat... I got one in the AAA final... It wasn't that hard.
We're the waves too big? :?

Hey... maybe a REPO-Charge is just what you need... you know, for when the waves get "scary" and you're hoping the swell drops.

See ya at the Pier, Bazza

well Ed we all have to surf the same waves with a repo or not. Being a BIG GUY its nice to have a safety net, I just go out there and try to do my best with the conditions im faced with. So just remember there wont be any perfect 10 coming your way   all you small kneelos will be happy to be in my heat i'll be farting perfect 10's thats if theres no waves.

Hey Albert can I brorrow you avatar

Repocharge

Post by bigtony »

ED,
don't sweat it buddy. You can surf all you want as that's what I plan to do if I get knocked out of my heat. I figure, it's the Pier NOT The COVE so if i'm no longer in the contest the contest is no longer there so we get all the waves we want. Just keep surfing :)

Now that sounds like something Chopper would throw out there, right!

Besides, if that doesn't work for ya I will loan you one of my boards and then make Barry carry me on his back instead of Albert. I mean we have to get him in the 250+ club some day!

Hey we might as well make this really fun, let's run some heats with board swapping going on. Fins back guys like myself trading boards with the guys riding aussie style tris and quads, and find out who can rip on whatever they find themselves on.
Backer we already know you can ride pretty much anything well. I've seen some of the boards you bring out occasionally 8)
Max , Fins back and flying

Sorry EQ but we have done away with the double elimination this time around. Still should be plenty of hears with the AA and AAA. I expect that everyone will surf at least three times and many will surf substantially more.

Heats will be 4 man, 20 minute, top 2 waves, single elimination.

So man up!

Is Ed worried about catching enough waves? Sounds like he has flipper envy.

Had flippers on and still couldn't catch a wave... none broke.

Happened in O'side too, but that Repo saved me.

It's brutal going through the Repo... you surf every other heat for the rest of the contest, (I surfed 8 heats one day) but at least you're still alive. 8)

Yeah, repos have been my bread and butter. I think the one contest I surfed that didn't have them (Oceanside around 2004), I was eliminated in 20 minutes. Just like that.

Ed, didn't you win the finals of that one? And you didn't need the repos...

I think we've got the finals in the site video archives: video.php

Yeah, but that was like a one day, 4 or 5 heat contest.

It's those 3 day, surf is always changing, "swell will be here tomorrow" contests that are so frustrating.

A flat 20 minuets, and you're done.

Remember our quarter final last year in Santa Cruz? You got that crazy point wave (point hadn't broken for hours) and ripped it.... you got 7's and 8's... it was the only wave of our heat.

Foster and I were battling out for 2nd with 2.1's and 1.9's. (I think I lost a split decision by 0.2).

Swell finally showed up 2 hours later. :x

I just love that double elimination:
Lose one heat, shame on Mother Ocean...Lose again, Shame on me for being a kook.
