TOM LINN BITCH SLAPS ALL COMPETITORS AT SALT CREEK!
Living up to his threat to "bitch slap" and beat all challengers at the Salt Creek contest, Tom Linn took the victory at his home break Saturday Oct. 20, 2012.
Local knowledge and waiting for the set waves worked for Tom and his son Chris as they both won their preliminary heats to advance to the final.
The surf was breaking at the point with a swell running at about four foot faces. As the tide went out, the waves got mushier.
Tom Linn caught some solid set waves during his prelim, scoring points on his long rides. Evan Odom caught a couple set waves and made a late drop to start the more competitive maneuver oriented scoring of the heat.
Chris Bermudez finished off the heat with a 360 in the shorebreak.
Heat one:
1st Tom Linn,
2nd Evan Odom,
3rd Chris Bermudez.
Heat two started off with a couple of penalties right away. Salt Creek local Sean Noone took off on Scott Elsner and Leonard Miller took off on Chris Linn as the battle for the lefts was heated.
Eric Peterson had a nice hit right on the sand, but Chris Linn's local knowledge and wave selection won him the heat. Chris had an off-the-lip right on the beach and hopped off the board, landing on his feet setting off a cacophony of hoots from the beach.
Sean Noone's long rides on set waves enabled him to score third in the heat despite his penalty.
Heat 2:
1st Chris Linn,
2nd Eric Peterson,
3rd Sean Noone.
The final was a battle between Tom Linn, Eric Peterson and Sean Noone. Set waves helped those three place in the top spots, with Chris Linn trailing at fourth because of his small wave selection during the final. Eric Peterson from the powerful kneelo headquarters known as Huntington Beach was the lone outsider to break up a clean sweep by the Salt Creek locals.
Final:
1st Tom Linn,
2nd Eric Peterson,
3rd Sean Noone,
4th Chris Linn,
5th Chris Bermudez,
6th Evan Odom.
Congratulations you guys!
Next contest is Nov. 17th at Seaside Reef.

We know Tom, and I appreciate your sense of humor brother. I am still waiting for the NSSA to update the current standings, but's it's safe to say your in the lead.

NSSA hasn't updated the season ratings yet after the third contest, so I did a rough calculation.
1st Tom Linn 4126
2nd Sean Noone 3497
3rd Eric Peterson 2813
3rd Chris Bermudez 2813
4th Chris Linn 2780
5th Evan Odom 2466
Leonard Miller is up there, not sure though how many points he got last time.

So Mike, what happens at end of Season? Top 6 get to WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS in MAY? Top 12?
Have you asked NSSA?
Thanks bro.

It is worth asking. I am not sure with our reduced schedule that we are even included in the Championships.

I am pretty sure I heard them mention those with the points would be invited. Top six, maybe 12, not sure, I haven't asked. I'll ask at the next contest. I hate bombarding them with e-mails, they are really busy.
There are west coast championships, and national championships. The entry fees are higher, don't quote me, but I thought it was about $175. for west coast and $200 something for nationals, but don't quote me, I'll find out.
I haven't asked because I wasn't sure if we would get that far and if you guys wanted to chase it all the way, or if you guys were just prepping for the KSUSA.
Another thing to consider is that you guys could keep the contests going if you would like. Five contests was just the minimum to get this shindig going. I'll ask to extend if you guys want to.
Kneeboarding is not the smallest category in the NSSA.

Looks like a solid swell for Saturday.
Hopefully Seaside is PUMPING.

Not sure if there will be that much swell but there will be major tide issues.

is it to much to ask for to get 3 turns on the same wave...
