With the KSUSA Titles next month and the Worlds here next year, this week is a great opportunity for people in the KB community to check out how a major contest is set up & run. the Cold Water starts Weds and runs through Sunday.

Take some time and walk around the venue with a discerning eye and see what will -and won't - work for kneeboarding.

You're imput will be appreciated.

They seem to be blocking the parking fom today (the 17th) through the week. Maybe I read the signs wrong?. They make such a big production out of blocking parking, running cables, putting up two story observation structures etc. . It seems kind of silly when it turns out there's no surf.

Surfhorn, do you know what time the actual competiton clears the water? I wanted to get in a dawn patrol tommorrow to try out my new Duckfeets. :D

Head east Kage. I can think of 2 or 6 reasons to head east.

Most early rounds start at 7AM. If you want to get out for an early surf, think 'headlamp'. But Mr. Manss is right-on, as usual...it was fun sunday afternoon.

Regardless of what the permit is for, it seems prudent to limit the contest area to Point ,Slot and Peak waves. No rides past the "Carp Lot" This would leave Middle Peak rights and Indicators open to the public. Not only would it be more manageable for "water patrol", but it would give the novices at Indicators and Peak rights an opportunity to see some inspirational kneeboarding up close.

Meanwhile, up the coast just about 20 minutes, it was sunny (a bit of a wind, though), and massive swell--about 10-20' at "Suckers". I shared it with two other guys on their 9'6" guns, and one guy towing in on the biggest sets. One of the biggest days of my life. Too bad they couldn't move the contest back up north a bit!

Scott,

Glad you got some good waves over the weekend.

Was it bigger than last December?
