Every time he caught a wave I was in awe over how different his approach to surfing waves was from anyone elses. He absolutely rips, is humble as anything and was absolutely blown away by the experience (just like last year).

Did Don make it, and how much duct tape did it take to give him a proper welcome?
Congrats on the contest!

Hey Bob,
Don Harris and the family road show made it in time for the event.
He made it thru to the semi finals of the Senior Masters.
On the Sunday of the event he fired off some 200 + still frames and a some video, expect to see some inspiring images when he returns home
He clocked up some reasonable time in the the water over the 3 days that he surfed, and also contributed in a small way(with help from the Bonnie) to putting a dent in the grape/wine glut in Australia.
On Sunday afternoon made a passionate speech at the presentation - encouraging everyone to make the effort to get to Santa Cruz in early January, then got along to the famous post event Bonfire at Turtles "acccomodation for travelling kneeelos by the fish farm," and was last seen with family in tow heading up the coast towards Jervis Bay.
He was pretty determined to investigate the waves that Rob Slater(see pics in photo gallery) has had everyone(on this site) salivating over during the last couple of months.

Hey there,
Thanks for the update!
Too funny on the 'dent in the glut' comment... I would respond, but genuinely fear repercussions from Bonnie! The worst of all being tea-totalled at our next gathering...
Hope to see you & the clan soon!
Cheers,
Bob

it would great to have a Strapper surfer on the team to discuss shaper, Mick D's continuing love affair with square tail twin fins ridden off the tail.
There are a couple of handy kneelos riding them at Pt impossos were Finger and i often catch up.

Hi Jamie - thanks for the report. Sounds like some nice surf. How'd it go for you?

Hi jack,
I made the semis of the opens but was taken down by a rampaging Mark Vanderpeer and the pesky Puerto Rican Mr Munoz

.
Dave Parkes, Dean Bould and James pommy Andersen were others who fell at the final hurdle. With falling over being literal as we surfed our fourth heat of the day, with some of us having 10 minutes break between coming in from our quarters and paddling out for semis.
Back in the day when my fitness was superior to my ability, it would have been right up my alley but those days have passed and I was toast
Some of the best surfers early on the Saturday and during the age divisions on the Sunday who failed to make the semis of the opens included - Matt Gallagher, Gavin Coleman, Max Hutchison, Paul Mannix, Dale Ponsford, Marcus Hague, Mark Slater, and Stan Kofed.
see link below and check out photo gallery to get an idea on the action that went down
