Idea: Fundraiser to send CA groms to Phillip Island!

Post by albert »

Jack mentioned this in the pictures section, I think its a great idea. :!:

As its been said on these forums many times, the Phillip Island event is the pinnacle of contest surfing in Australia, hands down. Every year its consistently the event with the best surf, the toughest competition and the friendliest atmosphere! Some say that the Phillip Island comp rivals most Worlds in terms of level of surfing!

Also, most people will tell you that the Phillip Island event is much more about going surfing, catching up with old friends and making new ones. Many of us typically drive down and surf along the way there and back.

What better way to expose up and coming groms to the level of surfing we regularly experience in Australia! Slats does his bit in showing what sort of surf we get here, but seeing it in person is a whole different experience.

I for one would be only too happy to help out.

good one.

My band will play for nothing.
We have all our own PA equipment and we do all our own songs.

If it is in or around Syd/south coast area and the dates and planets all align we could do it.

If you build it ..we will come.

This is a demo we did.

yes Albert peole go bit quiet when you test the depth of their pockets hey?

I was trying to think of ways i could help as an individual. Still got the little brain ticking on that one.
i was thinking if maybe someone with a little computer savy, set up an account similar to the one set up for us to donate to the KSUSA for the running of this site.( which reminds me i must be due for another payment :P )
i'd be happy to throw some money at it.
Maybe an E-bay auction by someone with a collector quality kneelo taking up space around the joint( all i've got is a woefully conditioned Ponsford). I'd put myself on E-bay, but 50 cents won't get em here and my reserve would be at least $1 aud :?
Jokes aside i reckon its a great idea and it'd be great to get some of the lads over here.

Albert-
Most of the people who use this site daily would never pay for it... why do you think they would sponsor a young Kneelo?

I, however, think it's a genius idea... and feel the people in charge of this site should find a way to subsidize a KSUSA TEAM RIDER.

Shaun and Sam are both worthy.

Great thread!! there's a couple of good idea's,but in reality it's gonna take cold hard cash to make it happen....
I'll pony up 100 bucks(aus) to get the ball rolling, and I'm not even going to the Island to compete!!
Hopefully this will keep moving, so c'mon put your money where your mouth's are...............of course we'll need some sort of finacial controller,
and that's not me!!!!

It blows me away how supportive the Aussies are of OUR young Kneelos.
Good on ya, DYdamo.

KSUSA... let's make this happen.

yeah... now we're talking!

I am happy to take them in once they hit Aussie soil! I got a spare room and if this does happen I will make the drive down to Phillip Island, lodging down there shouldnt be a problem.
