The last time I checked a map Oxnard was in Southern California. If we want to get picky, let's have three teams: South, Central and Northern. Southern Ca starts at our border with Mexico and ends at the San Luis Obispo County line. Central Ca goes from SLO to the San Mateo County line and any thing north of there is Northern CA. If we keep it a two team event and you're south of Santa Cruz you're pretty much in Southern CA.
If you don't believe me look at your state map.
This is going to be fun, I think the South has a few secret weapons that the north has yet to see

Hosey is a "PHILOSOPHICAL OBJECTOR".
He's never surfed south of Point Mugu, and he's never wanted to. The North is STOKED to Annex Hosey and all his Oxnard Cave Men.

Cut it off at Pt. Conception but let people choose who they want to surf for. The Central thing with three teams would just make it confusing.

Originally the North South line was drawn at Pt. Conception.
Some people have chosen to represent the north due to former living situations, and others who live north of L.A. chose to be northies to even up the # of people on either side. Personally it is up to each individual to decide which side they want to play on. It is really only important to show up and have a Good time. Since we actually all chose to be on the same team years back when we decided to be a Kneelo...

This is a Team event meaning Team Kneelo. North and South are just terms to describe a persons living area and/or attitude. The people choosing to participate in the Expression Session will be seperated into various heats (depending on # of kneelos) Each heat will have a certain # of points available (6pts for 1st/ 5pts for 2nd/ on down to 1pt for 6th.) top 3 from each heat to advance to final where the same point system will be used. Team with the most points will be the Pt. Conception Cup winner. Cup to be returned each year for new Jalama event. There will be other 'Tropies ' for individual placings (best barrel / air / etc.) This point system is loosely formatted on the 'Team' event that I attended while in Aust. Remember this..... We are going to Jalama to have fun (main priority) and to enjoy a Beautiful part of the coastline. communicate

various ideas with fellow kneelos. Please leave any egos at home. This is not about the further inflation of anyones head.

This is an event to draw people with the same style of riding habits together to further each others progression.

P.S. The team captain idea is a good one. But I choose to not be a captain because I will not be surfing for either 'side'. I will be keeping things rolling on the sand. I was chosen to coordinate the comp aspect of the Jalama Event.

Regarding Team Captains, Thank You for the recognition, but I would also decline. I think Jack and Don would be the best to represent our respective areas. Besides these two individuals have done so much for our sport!!!

Regarding Water Temp., don't believe everything you read!!!!

From North Cal's perspective, I'm glad Barry's neutral... he rips!!!
And big shouts for his efforts on this!

In an effort to hit 5 trophy options, how 'bout:

- 'The Spelunker' in honor of cave exploration
- 'The Fred' like the Greenough, in honor of Mr. Petersen
- 'The Rock' for the NorCal/SoCal dividing line
- 'The Tarantula'... same idea. Trophy designed accordingly
- 'The Lowrider' Trophy designed accordingly

Feel free to cull the herd. I'm off for a Mr. Peet's to reeeally get the juices flowin'....

BTW, are there volunteers for Team Cap'n?

BTW2, my kids b-days are 5/6 & 5/9. We'll be 'partying hard' with Cinderella or Snow White or one of those darn princess types while you're killing it in Jalama... enjoy! GO NORCAL!
