Ocean Beach/San Diego-Surfer Bowl 2004

Guys & Gals,

I was contacted by the people who put on the annual Ocean Beach, Surfer Bowl Contest. It usually is put on the weekend of the NFL Superbowl-I believe that will be Saturday-January 31st & Sunday- February 1st. They are trying to get an advance idea of how many of you want to participate in this years event. At this point, I know Albert Munoz is keen on it. There are nice trophies, prizes given to the top placers. There is usually a raffle to win all sorts of other goddies too.

Those that entered in the previous years can attest to the fact that it's a fun event that is very well run by the Geriatric Surf Club in Ocean Beach, San Diego.

If interested, a quick reply would be nice so we can give them a head count. As you know last year, we had a slew of competitors so they gave us the first heats of the morning.

They love the Knee Boarders participation!

Just got back from three days of filming on the North Shore with Bud McCray and Mike Latronic. We didn't score it BIG, but I got soooo much fun surf tooling around with Bud. I STRONGLY suggest anyone with the time to head over for the gathering this year. I am suppose to return in a month or so (We really wanted to film Pipe) so I don't think I will be able to go for a third time during the gathering, but the North Shore with Bud might be the best surf trip you EVER take.

He is putting together a mail-in flyer and/ or a possible e/mail format. You should be able to send that to him with your check$ and personal info.

He is suppose to send me an e/mail with details soon. When I get it I will post it so you all can enter in a timely fashion.

My schedule is putting me on the fence on making this event but for all that can make it I urge you, it will be a lot of fun!

HEY GUYS! WHAT THE F@CK?!
This is a really great event, and the surf is going to be PUMPING, and there are only 8 guys signed up so far. Go to the link above, send in your money by Friday (There are no Beach Entries) and come on down to OB for some fun. It was this contest two years ago that really got the whole kneeboard resurgence going because it was such a good time and such a fun contest.
It would be sad to think we can't support an event that has been so good to us.

Sorry!! I won't be able to attend. I am replacing an ailing old swim official who has fallen ill health. In his place they have asked me to step in and provide service for which I am honored. Best of luck to all of you who can attend and make us all proud for knee riding still lives.
