2008 Club Challenge

Post by Xmas »

Well for the third year in a row the sun shone brightly for the NSW Club Challenge.

With thanks to Rudy, the competitors were guided to the contest venue – off Lakes Drive Corrimal. The tents were already up and the WAKAs had things under control.

The swell was a decent 3-4 foot – very light on-shore but very contestable.

The comp kicked off at about 11.45am and ran like clockwork under the supervision of Mr KSA John Clingan.

Heat results:

Heat 1 (Juniors):

1. Matt Novokov (SKC)
2. Chris Owen (WAKA)
3. Sam Arthurs (NOVO)

Heat 2:

1. Andrew Heaton (NOVO)
2. Tony Wales (SKC)
3. Tom Newton (WAKA)

Heat 3:

1. Paul Satchell (NOVO)
2. Peter Deacon (SKC)
3. Peter Flood (WAKA)

Heat 4:

1. Nick Hartigan (NOVO)
2. Grant Christmas (SKC)
3. Russell Smith (WAKA)

Heat 5:

1. Phil May (SKC)
2. Damon Barrett (NOVO)
3. Andy Peck (WAKA)

Heat 6:

1. Ross Dillon (SKC)
2. Adam Williams (WAKA)
3. Darren Cooper (NOVO)

Heat 7:

1. Shannon Berwick (NOVO)
2. Wayne Jennings (WAKA)
3. Damien Gaynon (SKC)

Heat 8:

1. Baden Smith (NOVO)
2. Albert Munoz (WAKA)
3. Anthony Cridland (SKC)

Final result:

1. NOVO – 13 points
2. SKC – 15 points
3. WAKA – 20 points.

Beat wipeout: Andy Peck (WAKA)
Best wave: Albert Munoz (WAKA)

Great day – superbly run by Smurf and the WAKA boys.

Thanks to the Conistan Hotel for the after contest venue (and for the great burger).

Congratulations to NOVO – 3 x times Club Challenge champs.

But hey it’s getting closer…. very very much closer

Thanks Grant, excellent wrap up - it was a great day, and happy it went without a hitch, terrific attitude from all concerned and many thanks for coming back and patronising our sponsors premises "Gilmores Hotel Coniston"
Your absolutely on the ball Grant, it is getting closer and closer, but the Novo's, the champion club that it is, took the day again.......but.....watch your backs boys....SKC and the WAKA's are just over your shoulder   .

Looking forward to hearing about the $ raised for movember this year

We couldn't raise the sponsorship requested this year  but I am sure it all went for a worthy cause

Congrats to the Newcastle club for winning

Lowest points wins? Can you share a little on the format - we love to steal good ideas over here.

Tsk. tsk.

8 heats were run. Placements are added up. Best possible score is 8.

NOVO won 5, placed 1, 3rd in 2

5+2+6 = 13

PR guys, I tell ya!
