Hey Mick,
I was up that way on the weekend, 'round Mullumbimby way for a 50th, but managed to get a couple in at Snapper & Byron so I came back with a big grin on.
Looking forward to the Bendy comp next month, you coming down for that one ? Pretty sure the WAKA's have secured a house in Manyana again, if I don't see you before you'll have to call in and have a brew or two on the friday or saturday night.
See if you can't pry the big Daz away from the Pub up there and bring him down as well.
Cheers Wolruss

There were some good waves around. I spent most of the weekend watching after getting knocked out first heat.
Still don`t know who won, missed the presentation and nothing on the news last night.
Can someone PLEASE post the results.
Did you see the final;
maybe you'd like to award it??

WindanSea Boardriders selected Moffats beach as the main competition venue. All competitors including kneeboarders mustered there on Saturday morning suffering heavy rain and a south-easterly gale.
We decided to run the kneeboard heats and semis at nearby Ann Street Reef. It was wild and woolly there at first with a vicious northerly sweep and 4 to 5ft of swell. Most riders handled the conditions well although a few fell victim to the sweep. Things improved markedly by mid-morning and we ran the semis and consolation final under clean offshore conditions.
The first semi comprised Gavin Colman, Darren Gibbz, Glenn Bitton and Scott Berry. Darren took it out with Gavin in second. The second semi involved Gary Slater, Brian Smith (silver fox), Drew Abdy and Albert Munoz. Drew surfed nicely to win that semi with Albert taking second. The kneeboard final on Sunday certainly had a classy field.
We then called upon Gavin, Albert and Gibbsey to judge the consolation final for those eliminated in their heats. The break was working nicely now and we sent all seven out for 30 minutes. Brian Gordon from northern NSW emerged victorious to claim a $50 gift voucher which was kindly donated by John Hodges (a kneelo) who runs local surfshop ‘Surfwear Australia’. Brian was delighted having taken something of a battering in his heat. Barry Mantel (ex South Africa) and Luke McCall (Caloundra) couldn’t be split for second by their judges who, by this stage, were keen to head off an try and catch some A frames at Wurtulla.
Thanks also to Luke for bringing along some nice cakes and slices for the competitors.
The kneeboard division final was run on Sunday at 12:30 at Moffats under nice 1 to 1.5 m right handers in front of a good crowd. Probably the best conditions we have had for a kneeboard final in the last 4 years. The boys surfed well with beautiful roundhouse cutbacks and some great whacks off the top. The judging of the final was performed by the contest judging panel. Results were:
Gavin Colman 1st
Drew Abdy 2nd
Albert Munoz 3rd
Darren Gibbz 4th
All the guys hung around for the presentation at Caloundra’s CBX which was a great success. The shortboard title was taken out by former ASP tour surfer Nathan Hedge.
Thanks again to everyone that participated and helped out. WindanSea really appreciate the efforts of the guys who made the effort to travel up to take part in the contest.

Thanks Anthony, and many thanks for organising the weekend for the kneelos. Everything came together for a good weekend.
G`day `rus and Bigtreeman, been reading your posts-long trip for you but sounds like a good weekend also.
Will be at Bendy a few days early and returning when i feel like it.
3 weeks in N.Z. in April, after that i`ll be looking for a way to replenish the bank account.
