Here's my record:

fooj, that video is profoundly depressing. It perfectly captures the insanity of hard core localism.

probably several good reasons why the low turnout.
1. January here is better than there.......a lot better
2. lots of smiling locals here too
3. a little bit warmer here
4. Fooj is now saving lives....one enema at a time
5. it's hard to surf fat slow waves when you're fat and slow
6. no one owns a fullsuit.....i have one sitting in my closet only because of some recent trips to OZ so add another $250 to the cost
7. (and probably the #1 reason)....we're a bunch of lazy f%cks who moved here so we could sit on our asses smoking pakalolo and let perfect waves come to us. sleeping in till 10am so the trades could kick in and make the waves more perfect.
dawn patrols and freezing water are not held in high regard. get up early? when it's still cold out? WTF?
how about the US or Worlds held in Hawaii :?:  i could guarantee a higher Hawaiian turnout!
