I'm banged up, guys. Definitely cannot surf.

May still try to make it down to judge. (Just so I can DQ Kneemo over and over again. )

Saturday morning surf report from OʻSide Harbor:
COLD COLD COLD
Air in the 50ʻs, Water high 50ʻs - low 60ʻs
Genuine winter morning but without the offshores and more people
Small but peaky wind swell, light onshore breeze
Some sets approaching 4 foot but most much smaller
The crowd built fast, lots of unknown faces and summer kooks
At dawn the best surf was at middles, south side improved with incoming tide

Ed;
You OK?

Hey guys, if we can't keep this thread friendly, let's at least stay on topic.

This scrimmage is not a sponsored KSUSA event, so I'm not sure where the negative comments toward KSUSA are coming from.

If you have an issue with KSUSA, start another thread and I'll respond there, or just send me a PM. However, if the thread is just going to be 'KSUSA sucks', you won't get very far with that.

Count the Taylor's in from the OC... Joe will be riding, Amanda will be shooting the Cove Crew (and any other kneelo in the water). Like she says, "no stand-ups in my lense!" Will try to get there as early as we can. Thanks for the heads up Casey. Sounds like a whole lot of fun; can't wait to meet new kneelos.

Before 6, the harbor was a mess, too much wind from the north. Surfed alittle south of the O`side pier just out of longboard contest area. Surprisingly no crowd and minumal pre surfing people. Water is cold, 2-4 faces, sets were 4-6 faces with decent shape. Typical O`side. It seemed get better as the time pasted

Some very unofficial results:

The contest was held in small but clean surf that benefited the smaller or younger competitors. Unseasonably cold water in the mid to high fifties threw many of the competitors off their game.

Four heats were held, no finals, and no overall winner. Just practice heats. Juniors were allowed to compete in as many heats as they wished. All heats were mixed junior and senior competitors.

Heat one was taken decisively by Junior Evan Odom. Evan had both quantity and quality in both waves and maneuvers.

Heat two was the battle of the day with currant and former U.S. National Champions Bill L and Jack B putting on a competition lesson for the kids. My score card had Jack edging Bill.

Both heats three and four were won by Junior Shayne Dimick (my score cards again). Shayne came on very strong in the last two heats. His wave selection and maneuvers outpointed some quality competition.

Shayne has the junior bragging rights while Evan has the Oceanside bragging rights after beating some of the locals. Elise Odom was the sole female competitor competing in two heats.

Special thanks to Brad for hosting this event.
