If you could just see the outside conditions right now
Im too scared to go outside... its been blowing gale force onshores all night!! The conditions in which the bulk of the opens surfed yesterday afternoon were nothing short of atrocious... solid bulky, howling onshores with squalls every 30 minutes.

Ok,
Today we are at center crack reef which is at the famous penguin parade. The opens have just finished round of 24.
Not sure on results as the official tent is quite away from me.
Just spoke to Dale ponsford who got 2nd behind Parkes. He said Dave mentioned these were the worst conditions he has surfed in!
Anyway, the tide is incredibly low and badly effecting the waves on the reef. This place is pretty much the only low tide break on the island & even it's too low for it. Swell is very very very sloppy with gale force winds. Maybe 3ft?
The pro junior final is going in now?
Followed by the 1/4 finals of the open.
Then further heats to be announced.
Again the island being brutal towards this comp. Just talked with Tom backer & he is speechless with the conditions we've had.
His mimicking of riding a wave to us was priceless! If you turned the volume of and watched only he looked to be riding a bull. Barry could have gone well.
Anyway I'm off to find out whats happening. Matt Gallager has just told me Baden is out! Michael Novakov was a standout to me today. Would be great to see him do well. Long time between drinks for daddy Nova!

Full on swamp in our backyard now. Rain has been nutso here.

Last I saw, Bill is the lone non-Aussie... Go Bill!
Edit: Whoops! Solid finish!

Looks like the age divisions are stacked as well. Chris Linn! Chris Buscemi! Better check the latest, who knows?

I'm pulling for many Aussies as well... Greats have dropped. Lots of drama! Dang. Lots of crossing fingers, and lots of 'drats!'

Great to hear the first hand news.

Simon, wish you woulda had Backer on film (he is always a classic!)
Bob hope you guys dont float away up there...we have had heaps
of rain also probably 5 of 7 days lately..... good news is that I got my 7'
out last fri and it looks like it will get wet again tomorrow (from the saltwater and rain) hope the winds mellow out as forecasted then fri will be doable and sat will be good!
back to P.I. Hopefully you guys will get some great surf at the different spots
and that the conditions will come together for the rest of the semis and the finals!!!
just watching the live score updates of senior semi #2 with Albert, Chayne, and McCloud....almost more of a nailbiter just getting the scores with no visual of the surfing :!:

I know you're right, Steeno.
But I would assume Chayne and Berto are at least the "favorites' to will #1... no one would be surprised to see them win...I can't see a "favorite" in #2.

2 legends, a 2x Champ, and one of the best competitors of the last decade.

Regardless, can't wait to see the video.

Those heats deserve some decent waves ... come on Huey ... turn it on.

I'm going to step out on a limb here and predict that an Aussie will win the world title ...

i saw Matt surfing at the Coffs comp ... he'll be hard to beat ... but if I had to lay some money down and predict the eventual winner ... I'd be a very confused punter right now.

Anyway we'll find out in a couple of hours ...
Imagination is more important than knowledge.
For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand.
While imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

Albert Einstein ... Yeah Bert.
