Huntington Beach Scrimmage Saturday, November 6, 2010

The Fall Scrimmage is set for Saturday November 6th. Meet at Kneelo Cove in Huntington Beach early to get in some practice heats to get ready for the U.S. Titles in Santa Cruz.

First heat at 6:30 AM. Casey Patelski and I will be there early to scope things out.

For those not familiar with Kneelo Cove, its just South of the Huntington Beach Pier in front of the Hilton Hotel high rise. Parking in the HB City lot is free if you get there before 6:30 AM. Enter the lot at Beach Blvd and go North. Once in front of the Hilton high rise start looking for familiar faces.

This is a great chance for groms and the rest of us to get some heat practice against top competitors without the pressure. At the 1st scrimmage in Oceanside, Bill Lerner and Jack Beresford made the small surf look pretty good!

We're hoping for a clean Fall morning, some swell and a good turn-out. See you there!

I would say you are correct Laura, however I have named places like "Kneelo Cove, Nova Scotia." I guess it might be easier sometimes to place an address at the premier place in HB in these cases.

Hint, if you get to the Beach Blvd. gate before sun up, you can often drive into the parking lot for free saving the $15.00 or having to pump quarters into the meter. This can be hit or miss. Sometimes theres a guy in the pay booth waaaaaaay early.

PARKING: ENTER NORTH (RIGHT) GATE at BEACH BLVD. FREE BEFORE SUN UP 6 to 6:30. $15 after. Drive North thru lot to Next Toll Gate, Park.
Surf Contest: Can be somewhere between Life Guard 13 to 7, depending on the best sand bar swell combo. Usually a 3-2 wet suit will be good @ 58 to 60 Degree water. Air 48 to 60 if Winter, 80 if Santa Ana offshore winds blow. Home Guard Dolphins and Seals, all friendly and good surfers. Bathrooms and Showers on site. Good Luck! Casey Patelski 714 380 4968.
