Phillip island surf forecasts

coastalwatch
Further Outlook
Latest weather models are showing a highly active Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean storm track in the longer range outlook. At this stage it looks as though we should see consistent amounts of mid-sized swell hitting our coastline through the middle of March.

swellnet
Long term forecast (6+ days):
As hinted at on Monday, the upper level long-wave-trough should move further east during next week. This should see the storm track which is currently aimed up towards WA moving east and more into our swell window. At this stage there's a chance for a medium sized SW groundswell for Thursday next week, but we'll review this again on Friday.

My local guru tells me winds have been mainly onshore for last few weeks, which is maybe indicative of the el nina weather we have this year.

wind guru shows http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=208669
next 7days shows two offshore days on the beaches, and two offshore days on the reefs/bays with 6ft swells to go with.

4 days outa 7 aint bad in my book.
Anyone want to take a punt on the week after when its legless island
apologies to legless coast where there are no waves.

Curtis it depends on which beach you are talking about. Being an island there are plenty of options if there is swell about. In general Woolamai faces South West and most of the comps in the past have been held here.

Another site to monitor:

Should be good at Woolamai next Tuesday morning.

hey curtis,
northerly winds are generally good, north east is maybe the best for the woolamai beach breaks

easterly winds and solid swell for the reefs inside the bay

Any wind especially south west for Kitty Miller Bay which is the likely location if the weather gets really ugly .

To add to jamie's post:
SW is not a bad wind direction for certain breaks (penguin parade and right point, but the latter prefers the rare SE). Flynns, a favourite contest venue will operate on any wind out of the S, but is optimal on when there's E in it too. Sharkies likes an E (any takers?)

Cracking 2ft waves this am. This arvo arced up 5 to 6ft and going off.

This is on the woolami sister coast at gunnamatta, if gunna is good so is wooli's, basic broad rule.

Looking good for next week.

I am at the island from this Monday night and am happy to be a surf tour guide for any early birds that may be around. PM me and I will give you Cell / mobile number.
