Good idea Mike.We should look at a package deal and get the KSA involved with it or you could jump onboard the WAKAHITI TOUR.

Last time the Tahitians hooked up with a good flight deal through Air Tahaiti Nui (who were a contest sponsor) and we got pretty good prices. More importantly, they let us bring lots of boards. The Tahitians bussed us back to our accomodation in 3 or 4 old busses (picture 50 board bags tied to the roofs of each bus and 50 exhausted but excited travellers in each bus).

We also had dorm accomodation. Original plan was for us to be in rooms in a boarding school, but the locals protested because this was too close to a "secret" local break, so we (about 100 of us) ended up on matresses on the floor in a church hall. This was hard for mums and kids and wives and girlfriends, but at least one child was conceived and the hall custodians ended up good company.

A couple of us spent a couple days at Haapiti on Morea, a neighbouring island that you take a ferry to. We got great waves. There are lots of other islands nearby with waves and they aren't all like Chopes, but you have to respect the locals.

Bring your vegimite. Food is expensive and in the chicken/fish vein, with the odd bit of pork. The baguettes are good and cheap and easily washed down with inexpensive local brew.
