So...

It's NEVER like this. I'm not quite sure what happened. Late June is a much better indicator... or like Randy said  But, the water is warm right now, so there should be no complaints!

Scott, missed you but hope to get a surf in... work is demanding until after the weekend of the 12th... afterwards, game on.

Jamie, I remember that session well... particularly waiting for a last wave in and paddling, paddling, paddling (repeat 100x...) There are some classic comments posted by the pros, particularly about the fickleness of being in the right place. A lot of luck.

Don came down today and got a long session in... meanwhile, I was paying dues at work.

Creediler, probably walked right past you at some point yesterday. Kinda tripping on the whole deal.

The weather is changing quickly. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds from here.

Bob, I'm taking tomorrow off work to go watch the next rounds and get in a surf myself in the rising, probably messy surf.

Congratulations, Kelly Slater!!

Unless you just hate watching Slater surf, I'll think you'll love this highlite video that his sponsor, Quiksilver, just released today recapping his year leading up to his unprecedented 11th title. The quality of the slo-mo sections are especially great and not overused.

Most guys are riding 7'6"s, Slater says he'll probably ride a 5'11". Should give him an advantage, with duck diving.

Edit: Laurie Towner kept dislocating his shoulder during his heat... he'd go in, helping hands would pop it back in, and he'd go back out only to repeat the exercise
