Bells just finished, worth a look at highlight videos:

Just announced: Ripcurl search is going to be at OBSF Nov 1-11 this year
Surfline has some info on it now.
It'll be at VFW's to Kelly's...
Could be anything, but should make for some fun viewing...
Jamie... you heading out?

Epic Bells, maybe should just epic waves, really hard to surf by the looks of the footage.
SFK we are still waiting for things to pan out, but its possible we will be in SF by then, could be in China or Switzerland though, wait and see.
OB SF could like Bells, i hope they have fog filters for the cameras or they might miss the outside sections

Let's piggy-back the KSUSA Titles on THIS contest!
Creediler and The Kneelo Pimp would be odds-on Favorites to win the title!

Rip Curl at SF!?!?
All the old locals are bummed and trying to get out of town that week. They all hope it is 30 foot and onshore for the 10 day waiting period.
All the kids think it is going to be awesome.
I am too old to care.
One of the Wise Surf Shop guys says: "The pros won't surf that much outside their heats. The problem will be that the industry guys that follow the contests will be swarming everywhere and they surf way better than us."
Just don't care that much...

I'm looking forward to it. I think it's a great experience to see how pros surf a break that you surf, how they approach the lineup, wave selection, their ability to adapt to difficult conditions.
But right now I'm transfixed with the waves today at the Billabong Pro in Tahiti; bring up the new Heat Analyzer and watch the opening heat today, with Jeremy Flores (Round 2, heat 1). Some of the worst wipeouts among the pros I've ever seen...

That 'Heat Analyzer' feature on Billabong's website is very well done.
I liked that Kai Otton 10 point ride in Round 3.
Jeremy Flores has balls-o-steel

Contest on hold due to 'Code Red' conditions
The heat analyzer is a good tool, and agree with you John on that Kai Otten 10... he barely held on after some nasty wipeouts
On OBSF... like you said Bob... meh, over it. I'll try to see some, which is a distant second to getting some!

Want to see some amazing slo mo? Go to the Billabong contest site, the Day 8 morning show, then about minute 27 when they introduce the Phantom Cam footage at 1000 frames per second of some of yesterday 's waves. Well worth it...

This will cause the contestants to take conditions into consideration more so than ever. Might be kind of slow watching live though. A water start would really ruin it for spectators.
Pretty weak arguments on both sides for the PWC's. I guess the Parks Service doesn't want to add to the pollution coming out of the Bay daily, or God forbid someone running over the White sharks,
and the "safety" issue is laughable considering the ASP holds the Teahupoo contest.
Ok, done with my editorializing.
