The Team Challenge is always a highlight of the US Titles and this year we're stepping it up.
Sandy's Beach Grill is the official sponsor of this year's inaugural event featuring the unveiling of the Sandy's Team Challenge perpetual trophy. The winning team will be recognized on the perpetual trophy and have bragging rights for the year.
The Team Challenge event will be open for up to seven teams. Time to organize your team and name your captain.

Here's a little more information on the Sandy's Team Challenge:
Seven teams will compete:
- Team Mojado (defending champs)
- Kneelo Cove
- International
- Blacks Kneelo Crew
- NorCal
- Juniors
- San Diego
Four competitors per team designated by your individual Team Captains. If you are interested in being Team Captain, let me know by Thursday, Jan. 26. Please send me a PM.
There is no additional cost to participate in the Team Event (unless you want to bribe the judges).
The format will be similar to years past: a 1 hour, tag-team style heat with the 2 waves scoring per competitor and one designated "double-whammy" competitor. More details will be provided on site and depending on the conditions.
Prize for each competitor on the winning team (thanks to Sandy's and Big Tony). Also, a new perpetual trophy - the Sandy's Cup - will go to the winning team and be on display at Sandy's for the next year!
This is a fun and friendly event. Many of you will get a chance to compete - others we encourage to come check out!

Don Harris will be pulling together the Nor Cal team and the mighty Ed Quinn has volunteered to help with the International team. Brad and I can handle the Blacks crew.
Still looking for team captains for the other teams!
Sam - we'll make you and undrafted free agent and try to find a team for you to surf on (but you gotta wear your Central Cal 5 mm suit!).
Rumor is members of Blacks team were sighted training at secluded Baja pointbreak on Sunday! Ask Gove for the photos!

Captain Chris - you're Captain of Team San Diego (I trust they'll be whipped into shape by Saturday).
Tubesteak - yes, the teams are the teams. We're limited to 7 teams of four and a one-hour heat. If you're interested in participating, put it out there to the team captains.
