Tell Creediler he can have my spot. Chilly's Corner is off its nut right now and I can't pull myself away. Don't come down. The contest will be empty.

Checking in to see who is competing when and where on the 20th and 21st.
I will be out of town on business and Evan may need a lift to both the Salt Creek & Imperial Beach contest. Will anybody be passing through the O'Side/Vista/C'Bad areas that can lend a hand.
Mom is busy taking Elise to her SSS surf contest.

Wow, now we are talking, at least three heats, wooooooo! You guys wanted waves, you have them. Solid six foot faces, some juice in this swell, tide doesn't seem to be changes things that much. It was glassy today till around 9:30-10am. Tiny current at 9th Street. Should be a good contest. Bring a couple boards. 8)

How are the kneelos gonna advance in the heats?

I think EQ said it, 1st to final, 2nd, 3rd to repechage.

The second NSSA kneeboard contest went off without a hitch as Janice Aragon and Gayline Clifford of the NSSA ran a smooth ship, even bending over backwards to get the kneeboard heats over by 12:30pm so Paul "Devo" Devoy could go and get married just a few hours later.
Waves for this contest were solid, with four to six foot peaks coming in during the 15 minute prelim heats. Just a little current and only a little wind on the final heat. Todays secret seemed to be to wait for the set waves.
Todays competitors were:

Quarter 1 (10:30 AM)
Sean Noone
Leonard Miller
Chris Linn
Eric Peterson

Quarter 2 (10:45 AM)
Tom Linn
Tom Fish
Chris Bermudez
Larry Bounds
Will Perez

Quarter 3 (11:00 AM)
Paul Devoy
Edward Quinn
Eric Osland
Evan Odom
Greg Shewman

There are more competitors this contest than the last contest, and we should be growing even more for the next contest. There were more than 20 kneelos on the beach competing, or watching.

First place advanced straight to the finals. Winning their prelim heats were Eric Peterson, Tom Linn, and Paul Devoy. Their performances seemed to be centered on getting the set waves, doing some good hits, and riding as long as they could.
Last months winner Sean Noone had a smoker wave in his heat and busted an air on the end of it, but couldn't pull the landing.
Second and third places went to a repechage heat with the top three places from that heat going into the final six man heat.
The final heat consisted of:
Leonard Miller, Will Perez, Greg Shewman, Tom Linn, Paul Devoy and Eric Peterson.
The contestants were getting some good rides in the final, but Eric Peterson was the first to throw down the gauntlet by landing a huge lip bash on a left.
Tom Linn had several nice rides ending with some nice hits, Paul Devoy was getting some smooth rides and not showing any marriage jitters. Coming out of retirement, Greg Shewman, the 1st NSSA National Kneeboard Champion from 1979. He had some big waves in his final with some hard bottom turns. Greg had three back to back heats, not bad for an old man.  He's not really that old. Rumors are that Shewman looked better than Michael Jordan when he came out of retirement.

Final results are:
1st Eric Peterson
2nd Tom Linn
3rd Greg Shewman
4th Paul Devoy
5th Will Perez
6th Leonard Miller

Current championship point rankings are:
1 Tom Linn 2626
2 Sean Noone 2372
3 Paul Devoy 2194
4 Leonard Miller 1894
5 Ed Quinn 1861
6 Chris Bermudez 1838
7 Tom Fish 1767
8 Chris Linn 1711
9 Eric Osland 1650
10 Evan Odom 1519
11 Eric Peterson 1500
12 Greg Shewman 1125
13 Will Perez 975
14 Larry Bounds 694

Congratulations and thanks.
Next contest is Contest #3 • Oct 20 • DANA POINT - SALT CREEK
