I spoke to Paul West of the USSF and here's an update on the US Champs-
The website will be modified in the next few days to reflect our division and the reduced price of $60. You can register online (I think). We will surf Saturday 6/26 from about 9:00 to 2:00. Awards will be made immediately after the finals. 4 man, 20 min heats, professional judges.
Go to surfusa.org to register to enter.
Sounds like it will be a fun day in the sun hanging with the kneelos, with the contest thrown in to keep things interesting.

Good luck to everyone this year - I'm sure you'll make a strong showing for the weekend crowd along the pier. As it turns out, I WILL be in town (we leave 10 p.m. that night) but WONT be surfing. I need to spend some quality time with my daughters before heading for Tahiti. If I get a chance, I'd like to swing by and check you all out.
Since I'm not in the event, I figured I'd have some fun and run some odds on you guys (again, just for fun - don't take too seriously). Maybe Caliente will take a bet on this...
Barry: 2:1
Backer - 3:1
EQ - 3:1
Tom Linn - 4:1
Sprocky - 4:1
Ler - 6:1
SPBrad - 8:1
Will - 10:1
Derek - 10:1
Wino - 100:1
Longshot: Brad (beware of those with only 2 fins!)
Crowd favorite: Ler
How's that for motivation!

Hey Jack
Thanks for the odds but I think my odds should be higher. I just got a new tri-fin and have not got it wired so I think my odds should be 20-1.
See ya in the water

I just checked the website and still no online entry. Paul West told me that they would accept entries up to the last minute. So you can enter by taking the form off the surfusa.org website (go to USSF contest) and mailing the form with your $60 check to the O-side surf shop.
or:
Enter on the beach. Beach entries will be accepted.
see you all there....................Tom

Looks like we are gonna have some swell.
Jack- I understand the family thing, but don't you think this would be a great tune-up for Tahiti? We have never had a US World Title holder, and quite frankly, you are our best shot.
Even if you can't surf, come by so we can get you fired up for the Worlds.

EQ: thanks for the message - but if I get any more fired up I'll probably crap my shorts! Hopefully I can sneak up there to cheer you guys for a few.
By the way - did you and the freezin Ricans surf Saturday or just drink all weekend?
