Is throwing big spray good surfing ?

Post by OOK »

Not sure wether this has been debated before but I know some judges look for big spray when awarding higher scores. This may not be relevant but I know in skiing the carve is the holy grail and skidded spray turns are frowned upon when searching for the perfect carve.
As kneeboarders should we be looking at carving turns with spray coming off the rail evenly the whole turn (pure turn ?) as distinct from a sudden spray to earn points (a sliding or pivot turn?) Both turns are valid but are we miffing the guys going for the pure carve with even pressure in competition ?

OOK

as a skiier as well I know that doing big sprays of snow when carving could mean you are using your heels too much and not on the balls of your feet as you should be so maybe as you may have intended ...big sprays dont really mean good surfing technik(spelling)

Mornin all,

All I know is this.Could there be anything more better than a hard-cranked turn, spraying session buddies with heaps of spray whilst they jeer and cheer your aqueous endeavours?
Oh the glory of it all :!:

And then there was the @$#hole who decided to spray me and clocked my ankle with his fin (cutting it a frog-hair too close) nearly broke my ankle. Nearly broke his face...

Then there was the time that my dog was going crazy at 4Am and I mistakenly opened and my dog bolted outside and onto a very large and very pissed skunked.

As I worked to pull my dog off the skunk it let go with the BIG SPRAY.

Oh, did I mention I was naked..............talk about Full Frontal Assault. It was a gas.

Hey surfhorn,

2 trips to baja from LA and both times my eyes watered.

I said to the guy(s) driving "What the f@3k was that..?"

"Dead skunk, man.."

No wonder Mr Wainwright III had inspiration... :)

To write something about roads.

Stinkin' to high Heaven.

Hart, if you're a fan of Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road, check out my friends radio station in my hometown of Watsonville, CA.

KPIG.com - first radio station on the Internet and as irreverent as they come. Great bunch of people, too.
