Bud,
Doesn't Domenic Bertoia live on that northern part of the islands...
Hope he, Greg Holzman, Ken Ward, Charlie Smith and any other of our kneelo bro's are safe..
Talked to my friend on Kauai and he said people are stuck at home (in certain area) because the roads are closed due to flooding or mud slides... And some of these homes are being threatened by more dams/reservoirs bursting...
The bursting dam was like a Tsunami hit the island, only thing is the water came from the Mountain .. 40 feet high rolling waters plowed through a forest area, snapping trees like toothpicks...

Just got back from kauai.Stayed on the west side [kekaha]Luckily the rain stopped early tuesday which gave the streams some time to drop. The whole area going towards lihue was flooded.Didn't appear to be any major damage, just lots of red dirt.Flight out was at twelve,so it was a bit tense with all the road clearing on the way.

More small world stuff.Turns out a young guy named ukulele dave was hanging out here in bolinas with a local lady.He grew on ohau.It turns out he went to school with the guy that drowned in the dam collapse.
There were at least three turtles at pakalas MY last few surfs there...Surfed by myself for over an hour, water was pretty muddy, and tigers do like turtles, chicken skin, till a few others showed up.

Another point about critters hanging around fresh water rivers. The're pretty adaptable to saline changes, and the fresh water kills the parasites that live in their gills and on their bodies.
