San Diego KBérs

Post by Bintang Bob »

I was cruzin' through the members list and noticed there are way more KBérs from the San Diego area than anywhere else in the world.... what's up with that.... I was born and raised in SD and I don't remember that many of us.... maybe it's something in the water... how many of us are there in SD area anyway.... now's the time to stand and, er ah, kneel and be counted....

Heck with the LJ Reefs, Blacks, the Cliffs, Lowers and Baja a stone's throw is anyone surprised SD is a Kneelo paradise? There are about 15 alone who consider Blacks as their home break - is there another surf spot in the US that can match that? How about in the world? All that and we've got the Padres (hottest team in baseball right now).

Bob - I'm surprised you haven't seen that many kneelos in SD. How long you been in NZ? And. most importantly - WHEN YOU HOSTING THE RAGLAN GATHERING???

I'm new to the whole trip but you'll see me at Hermos, PB Point, South Bird, and SS Cliffs (Scored fun NB on mothers day :) )

you know, i didn't move to san diego that long ago, but i was here when "the Padres won the Western Division" and i thought it was the biggest joke in the world. i mean, come on, people were out CELEBRATING because they took the worst division in baseball with a .500 season? thats not even a victory! people were going to bars, cheering - like, i dunno, like they'd WON something. then they got trounced in the playoffs.

i WAS at the brewers/padres game last thursday and they smoked em, but if you're talking about the pads being the hottest team in baseball in May i'd say i guess i know what san diego sports fans are all about.

(sorry for the rant, its just that this "YEAH PADRES RULE" thing kills me)

Slicedfeet - you bastad! i wanted to surf sunday, i got a medicore sess at creek and another one at windansea (i hate those people) but gave you a ring a couple times.

Ocean, only if you knew what it was like to be a Padres fan from birth, you would celebrate any and all victories as if they were game seven. You just never know when the next one will come. With the Pad's it could be a long time waiting. :?

By the way the boys are killing all teams not just those in the West.

I grew up in Dago as well surfing the same area (Pacific Beach, 70’s, 80’s) every day without ever meeting another Kneeboarder. Now living in North County you couldn’t get away from them if you wanted too. Just this Sunday in South and Central Oceanside I saw two separate unknown (to me) Kneeboarders headed down the beach.

I have to agree with Ocean. A fact is a fact!! I grew up with the Padres and yes it is nice that they one there division, but lets face it. They got smoked when they entered the big leagues.
And Bintang Bob, there are even more of us that put our local town on the members list which is still part of San Diego County. Up here north of S.D. proper, in O'side I can count at least 12 to 15 of us alone. Now thats 30 plus kneelos in a small area.
