Umm, Dorje...maybe you need to do a re-read. Not mine at all!
It's the one I pull out when in a situation such as your own at the moment.
It's the inherent flaw in any Christian belief system...
How do they reconcile an omniscient god with freewill.
If god is omniscient, then christianity is deterministic...so, for christians, why repent.
Anyway,I was just going into bat for your team (with bat in cheek).
By the way, I'm an atheist.

Im so sorry!
I only came back online to (now the kids are asleep) appologise for taking your post to0 seriously and not noting the turning on itself tack closely enough
I was reminded of a question I put to my teacher at a year 9 spiritual retreat back in my days of attending Christian Brothers College
as was noted elsewhere, posting is often done on the run (from the mrs)
But to the mrs's credit she did state that idealistically, if I did take umbrage at mow's suggestion that only Jesus believers "really really live on the edge" ...from the perspective that his private ideas should not overide the public domain...I should have not been public in suggesting no more pm's.
perhaps that was what Bruce was talking about...but on past experience I cant be sure...still, I did once suggest to Bruce,(OVER A YEAR AGO) after he pmd me to tell me off about something else, that any problems were pest expressed online...so I guess he is holding to that and so am I
fff
as I say to my six and seven year old students who come to me holding their tooth in the palm of their hand and saying
"look Mr Carroll, Ive lost my tooth"
"No you have'nt, it's there in your hand!"

Dorje, I've tried so hard to put this to bed but you are amazing. We LOVE surfing, love waves, love the rush, love the equipment, love the talk, the pics, the vids, the clothes, everything about it. It's by far the most fantastic sport on the planet and in the most fantastic medium. Nobody else raves about their sport their entire life. We work only because we have to. Yet on a surf forum you continue your fascination with Christianity.
I pm'ed you because you didn't even give me a chance to say goodbye. I titled it "last pm" so I wouldn't get sent to the principal's office. In it I said the problem was our two teachers--they contradict each other. So now that the teachings are on the table, let's let the teachers duke it out. May the best lama win. That frees you and me to concentrate on surfing again. But now you're telling me I let you off too easy, even after I practically drowned myself with you.
fff, your money was well spent. I agree with you that God takes responsibility for dorje's buddhism and my last pm. He's God. If He wants to, He can. He did. That's the meaning of "Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin (guilt) of the world." Let there be peace. But who told you repentance was a condition for salvation?--you "have" to repent? The New Testament says that what saves you is the Crucifixion of Christ alone, period. Anything that's not the Crucifixion, including repentance, doesn't save you; it only serves you as a saved person. It's only a beautiful product of the Cross, never a substitute. Nobody can repent unless they first know they've been forgiven. It's like the soldiers of the Wicked Witch of the West -- until they saw the witch was dead with their own eyes, they were paralyzed and couldn't switch loyalties. You dwellers of Oz, of all people, ought to know that.

FFF....many who have called themselves athiests have ended up [for the want of a better word] praying, when in an extreme or life threatening situation.
Maybe your faith hasn't really been tested yet.

fff might pray to his own inner strength if need be...does not contradict atheism or the idea that divinity dwels within
markgnome
Legend has it that the valley of Yusmarg in Kashmire was the final home of the prohet Jeseus after escaping the trouble of his homeland
there is a tomb in Shrinagar that is believed to be the final resting place
also seen in the Hemis area of Ladakh
great stories...my house boat owner in Shrinagar and I spent lovely days talking religion on that most beautiful lake surronded by the Pirpinjal Mountains
mow
I have a joy for studying religious traditions...again you narrow down to your own agenda
and your signature would seem to be a misrepresentation of the truth regarding my comments
there is no such thing as goodbye
all surfing from now on...promise
