O-Side Sucks

Post by Markem »

Beeline,

You must be trippin' there's never ever waves at O-Side, and for sure not south of the pier. LOL

I was a bit south of the main kneelo crew.
Hiding under the curtain much of those days.
Mid day yesterday was in my opinion the best.

yesterday the waves started down here.

howling sideshore winds, 20 knot longshore current, 5 second period, and some fun chest high nuggets.

stoked.

Waves picking up thanks to 99L , which may morph into a tropical or subtropical system later in the week. While this low is moving East, it may get influenced by high pressure and drift back towards the East Coast.
Going out tomorrow with a Blast quad!

I was down in Oceanside this weekend too!
Sorry I missed most of you guys!! :( Be nice to put a face with some of the names of you southers
I was down with the Ohana for some Sea World action(2 days!!) so apparently I missed the best day of the weekend!!(Sunday)
Got to surf with Craig on Saturday, not too bad, but I'm not really used to the crowd factor!! Not to mention how many of the crowd were total kooks.
I was scared for my life a couple of times - out of control just good enough to catch wave types!
Surfed the harbor (apparently not a good choice) so I missed seeing alot of yous guys!!
Thought monday was going to be all time but seemed the swell direction not optimal for the harbor. Even worse crowd of novices who all came together apparently, dominating the peak of the south jetty dropping in out of control on everybody, even their own kind!! I saw at least 2 collisions!!
These guys were about 10 in number!! Unbelievable. My brother in law is a local and says hes never seen the guys. Needless to say we went home early. I wish we would've went out somewhere else!
The water was sure nice and warm though :) :)
I'm glad some of you guys scored and the pics look great!
Sea World was a hit and daddy is all time right now! :D :D
Next weekend Santa Cruz.
Hope to hook up for a saturday morn session!
Get Shacked everyone!!

At newland on sunday there were 6 guys out when blackball went up at 11am. We stayed out and the lifeguards didnt enforce the blackball as there was nobody else on the outside. wicked current on the inside though. outside was sectiony and hollow with some freak OH sets but mostly CH to HH. no other kneelo's out after 10 am. not that i expected to see any. took monday off to rest my weary old bones

Fall is in the air... and I don't mean the Halloween Costume catalogues that the kids have been pouring through since July.

Look ahead, just ahead.

It's 1-1.5x OH and calm right now, but short-period swell.

Tomorrow looks to increase to 10-10.5ft at 9 seconds (ouch.)

It will wane from there, with calm and ever slightly offshore winds kicking in. Unfortunately, nothing over 10 second periods...

Here we go!

newport was really fun this morning OH peaks condensed in between jettys...lots of power , good barrels really easy for a kneelo to OWN the outside peaks....got so many waves.... 52nd to rjs looked really bumpy...but 48th - south was cleaned up good ....

laguna was pretty fun a couple days ago... felt good to surf some reef waves....

The south side of Oceanside Peir was going off yesterday. Not as big as the previous two days but top to bottom and rifling. Plenty of tubes for everyone.
If I say its safe to surf this beach Captain, then its safe to surf this beach. I mean I'm not afraid to surf this place, I'll surf this whole f@cking place!

Blood red sunrise greeted Scott W. and me. The reflection off the glassy water was surreal. Fires burning North of us are wafting smoke into the Bay Area, leaving a thick haze.

We ended up at the North end, where there were some deceptively fun waves coming through.

On the drive to work, South North-end wasn't so hot, mid-beach had some decent peaks, but not epic, and South end didn't look so good.

In general, it looks to be improving from slightly messy at dawn.

Size is about shoulder-HH at North end, OH to maybe 1.5xOH mid-beach

The water is pretty warm by our standards...
