The O.C.--where to surf this next swell?

Post by MIK911 »

I'm rarely down in the OC, but will be in North OC Sat AM (Jan12) mid morning, and would appreciate a recommendation on where to surf this upcoming big swell.
I'm not looking to get all aggro fighting for waves amidst a bunch of amped shortboarders, but just want a spot that would handle this largish swell.
I've longboarded Huntington Cliffs and Bolsa, but not much else in OC.

Any suggestions?
thanks

you named the spots that will probably be the biggest and best in the area.
for size you will want to start there at the north end of town.
might even see cable cars/ trolleys breaking if its BIG enough though the tide might need to be lower for it to be really good.
keep your eyes peeled and you will probably come across a few kneelos.
do to work/time restraints I will be up that way from dawn until 9:30
hope to see you getting some fun ones.
Peace,
Barry

I'll be out in the water somewhere trying to get some footage with my roommate. Depends on how large it is, but usually IF its THAT big most of huntington south of the pier will be walled up and unrideable. But I don't believe this swell is that large so depending on conditions(pray for offshores ) might have some good beachbreaks along stacks or rj's. North of the pier should hold shape a bit better but once again depending on conditions.

My plan is to check newport jetties and south. Tend to hold shape a bit better if its large.

Good luck on getting some waves, maybe see yah out.

Bolsa is gonna be crowded, but if it gets big crowds thin out.
