Sorry to dissapoint Mal, but I took one look at this one and decided it was not for me. Mostly because there is no possible way that Greenough had absolutely anything to do with this board (IMHO). Therefore I would price this board similarly to any other slabs around that era, even though this one is in very nice condition its still far from worth what the winning bidder paid for it (again, only my opinion!).MALLEE BULL wrote:WHAT BIDDER NUMBER![]()

I had Michael Cundith build me one in 78, whilst living in my 64 Holden EH wagon at Broken Head.
Well actually they harassed me about getting one until I caved in.
Said it would be "the fastest board I'd ever owned".
It was an absolute DOG, no drive, super sluggish, crabbed instead of turned and plowed instead of planed.
I hated it.....no I LOATHED the thing.
(I had already had Lis fish, what was I thinking? !!! )
But it was beautifully shaped and finished.
Orange deck inlay, clear rails and bottom, slight swallow tail and near stinger type flyers / wings.
It had the Greenough edge board hull and Sky Surfboards twin fins as seen in the board mentioned, only they'd put 3 cuts into the bae of the fin for extra flex.
I forget what I did with it????
I think I stashed it at Joe Engle's (RIP) place.
As a period piece, the buyer of the auctioned board has a good buy.
I'm sure it'll hold it's value over time.

I had a chat with Mike at easter, him and George go way back, when I say chat Mike did most the talking, told me lots of stories and I only dropped into his shop to get directions to Parkes's factory.........
He is such a nice guy, he did'nt have any KB's in his store but I did buy a Greenough T-shirt.
He showed me an article in the Byron local newspaper about a surf rescue boat George has designed, has a 110cc jet ski motor in it, everyone wants it, from surf clubs to the coast guard.People seem to forget about his boat building expertise, he is so in tune with water and the ocean maybe he is a dolphin reincarnated......
