My problem is that I'm 176lbs AND only 5 foot 4 inches tall.
I have been looking at the Parkes "Malibu" kneeboard, and at his 80s repros (the gray ones on the website) as a board for easy catching waves and chilling out, not trying to win any contests...
However I have yet to have a good chat with anyone who had ridden them!

Ok... Here is my take.... Up until a few yrs ago, I didn`t ride anything over 5-3. I`m 5-7 and I weigh 170#. I knew my short boards had draw backs, but I like riding shorter boards. But after hanging this site and talking with different KBers in and out the water, I decided to go up in lenght. Now the boards I usually ride are in the area of 5'-7"/8". Nothing over 5'-8". I will never own a 6' board.
As for the Parks board(s), you don`t see them very often where I surf. I know Parks makes a good board, so you won`t go wrong if you find or get one. But if you have the oppurtunity, try different boards.

I've ridden a lot of boards....my first was about 48". I've found that a KB that is the same height as I am, is the best performance board for me and for the break I ride the most (Sewer Peak): 5'8" x 21 3/4" -nose: 16 3/4
-tail: 17 1/2" -2 3/8" thick, double wing swallow thruster; front fins at 21" from tail - rear fin, double width of base up from cut out.
But I really like the 6'0" x 22 3/4" 17 1/2" nose 16 3/4" tail quad (which I turned into a 5 fin) round pin I've been riding for the past few years. Its a better all around board. I would like to pull in the nose measurement a bit, though.
But since I'm 5'8" and about 190#s, I will always keep a fuller shape 6'0" as my 'longboard' for smaller surf and use the 5'8" for medium size waves that are primarily barrels. I do want to add a 6'0" or 6'2" quad or tri with a more pulled in nose for larger waves sometime.
You may want to go the 6'0" route......great all around board.

Thanks for all the replies. I caught a few today on Eric's board and was loving the speed! I'm now in the process of ordering mine. Allison

Hello folks, i`m 5`7 and 150lbs. Had always ridden 5`7 boards and happy with them-mostly at a short, fast, barrelling reef break.
Now i surf a long point break and have a 6`0 and 6`2.
The longer boards are easier to paddle, so i can compete for waves with the mal riders.
They`re also faster, which helps make the tight sections and hold the wave much longer.
I`ve lost some manouvreability, to which i`ve adjusted the way i ride, but getting heaps more waves of better quality.

nah
Stan K is ... perhaps ... a vertically changed fellow ... stocky and strong
has a short board
but
more often rides a 6ft board ( when it's not BUSTED )
and also has a 6'5" gun
176lbs is 80Kgs ... I think
not far under Stan's ... mass ...
![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
he is anything but ridiculous on the 6ft board
