Not sure if Gustav is going to add to our fun here on the east side, but we also have Hanna now.

With an 8AM boat tomorrow morning, and a 6 hour drive ahead of me today, I'm shooting for the Malibu area for this afternoon. So if you see a KBer on a 'rescue me' orange 6'0" 5 fin barge, kick over and say 'high'.

Quite a wave train coming off Africa. Looks like a monster Cape Verde storm cranking up. Its that time of the year. Florida, Duck and Cover!

90 degree water in the gulf.. If that sucker goes thru there, gonna be trouble for those gulf states.Hopefully go a different direction
Hope ya'all get some decent waves...
The reefs were just fine yesterday morn.+- HH,all day. :D double sessioned in the evening incoming, swell jumped 1-3 ft about overpowered the summer bars.
Swell jumped again today, and will continue to jump till sunday..yeah!And as a bonus there's a small 2.3 at 15 from the SW.That's a nice combo for the next reef up.Hope the weather holds.....This is the labor day weekend... .... Gonna be a zoo in town. That's OK,I won't be there.

May not be too bad.Watched the evening news. They interviewed scott palmer[head lifeguard stinson state beach]Said another reported shark sighting.Report said the shark breeched several times.Sounds like a thresher, thats their style.
This happened last yr also.5 reported separate white shark sightings in about an hour... .. threshers....
Crowd may not be too bad after this report. You could always go out to the other place.Should be good.Discretion is.........
If I can find the old shark warning poster the park posted,I'll copy it and put it by the ramp.....

cheers

Our local beaches were doing their best imitation of Wollongong yesterday. Perfect little 4 foot cylinders as far as the eye could see up and down the beach. I went to this weird little beach and had a peak to myself for 3 hours before another surfer showed up. I tried to take a picture but the locals wouldn't have liked me

Local encounter

Post by JohnS »

Went to this spot that requires a bit of a hike today. The waves were tiny and we got more exercise from the hike than we did from surfing. When we got back up the trail and near our car we noticed that there was this hippy dude sleeping ON our car  The guy looked just like Tommy Chong from Cheech & Chong. Homey wakes up as we approach and says “Wow, sorry man” Tie Dye, Rose Colored glasses. It was hilarious!

Years ago when I lived much nearer Wollongong, we used to say of any fast right hand barrel "...just like Kirra..."

Kirra is no more. Swamped by sand. And now the sand's moving North.

Enjoy the waves you get and never take it for granted that you can go get 'em.
