Slater Kneeling
Hello there. I keep hearing about Kelly Slater riding on his knees but have never seen it. Any links images anyone? The fella's gotta be thinking of retirement and when he does it'd be great to think he might branch our way!

Well, three reasons I guess:
Firstly, my impression is that he has reasonably good wave knowledge and is a moderately good surfer so it'd be very interesting to see his take on kneeboarding actually riding a kneeboard.
Secondly, it'd give a real boost to the sport in terms of the esteem in which kneelo's are held by our footboarding cousins (not too important cause if they can't appreciate good surfing on other craft then tough).
Thirdly, it'd show great depth in the surfing sole of Kelly himself in really pushing to be a great generic surfer. In fact, I'd like to see him on all craft when he gives up the contest game.

And, as a good citizen trying to stimulate the economy, here's a bonus Slater kneelo pic from awhile back...

Iteresting claim from Big Tony. How many titles has Slater got? (Shows how interested I am in comps)bigtony wrote:Talked to him at dinner last night and he said that after he hit's the 10th world title he's switching over to knee riding full time!
Get ready...
Surf has been good, but the rains have been pretty heavy yet cleared for the final.
See ya

SLATER kNEELING
Look in surfline videos Slater and timmi reyes semifinal video
last wave for slater, kneeling at pipe. And on surfline pipe masters photos you will find the photo of the champ doing it on his knees.

everybody seems to be making a huge deal about the board Slater won with at Pipe...the "Deep Six" or whatever it's called.
Take a closer look at it...rail outlines are way more parallel, looks to be at least 21-22" wide, and the rocker is as flat as any Fish I've ever seen. Look at the videos of him on it, it's flat and wide and "skates" through the tube sections.
It should be obvious to the world that he's riding a glorified kneeboard. Absolutely f'ing classic...

I do not rember what contest it was didn’t another world champ named Curren barrow a kneeboard and win a contest? Tom broke his board in the semi. Slater is so flexible can ride anything. If he popularizes kneeboarding then we will end up with Play Mates poising with kneeboards see other thread.
