Dude named Larry

I was down in Oceanside this weekend and a guy named Larry walked up to me as I was about to paddle out. He was checking out my board and is a kneeboarder. He ended up paddling out and we surfed together for a few hours.
The dude had some trippy stories and he says he goes way back with the Big Rock, Blacks, OB etc crews.
His name is Larry Roundtree, and the moniker on his kneeboard was 'Pelican'
Does this ring a bell with any of you out there?
Super cool dude. . . talked non-stop
