Hey, Happy Birthday everyone, you guys are getting old!
Jerry, doing what you do N of the border keeps you young and at the rate you're going pretty soon you'll be able to shoot your age
Happy Birthday Max ! Don't let it bug ya, it's pretty much just a number(except for the backaches and sore knees). Having enough sense to paddle out at big Wedge isn't a sign of senility kicking in.....not remembering after the session where you parked your truck...different story. Happy Birthday.
" Death and taxes are pretty much the same, except that death doesn't get worse every time congress meets "
Kneeboarding since 1976; always searching for the ultimate sled, always in awe and grateful for the work of master craftsmen, Romanosky, Frye, Cleary, Mc Cray, Timpone, Ballestar, Minami, Hart.
I saw a solid ground swell was arriving from NZ the next day and pulled a sickie.
had a major surf at Boulders and ended up at sunset downing some ales, discussing the terrors of the last coral section and listening to Johnny Cash in the carpark with some yanks from the salani resort (RIP).
a young guy (20+) said " so you wagged work to go surfing...fantastic...i hope I'm still doing that at your age."
didn't know whether to thump him or hug him.
the moral is
" no matter how young you feel, there is always someone who thinks you are ancient."
Well, happy birthday to you Max, and to you Jerry, and to anyone else either celebrating or looking for sympathy. The older I get the more I try to aspire to that old line "Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn" although in darker moments, the more strongly I suspect it's utter fantasy. However, you're a long time dead, so I hear.

I know what you mean Mark, a young standup surfer (early 20's) once called me sir one time I was surfing. So I didn't know if I should feel old, or maybe it was said out of respect!
He still didn't get waves from me though, I'm just saying!
I turned 51 young today. Been kneeboarding around Oahu since 1974 first using a twin fin fish. I now ride a Blast round pin quad. Although I'm not quite the waterman I was in years past, I thank God for still being able to surf. From my first wave in 1974 to now, the thrill is still the same for me. You're never too old if you surf from the heart. Kneeboarding, be it old school or new school makes no difference. Let's surf! "Got rail?"
couldn't have said it better myself, gotta love your attitude. Happy Bday, Share the Stoke.
"So if you want to kneeboard, find the hollowest waves you can, ride as short of a board as possible and go fast and deep. If you want to slip and slide, twist and jerk, go for air then stand up and do it. Let’s keep kneeboarding sacred."

My family have told me that if I get more forgetful then they intend to "leave the gate open" overnight in the hope that I will wonder off. I told them to just put me on a board point me at Tassie and say "Trust us you ALWAYS paddle from here to Tassie at this at this time of year.."
I live in my own little world, But it's OK they know me there.
53 however I started Kneeboarding at 50
Can't remember why I never tried it before then
One of the best things that ever happened to me, rates almost as high as losing my virginity.
