it is always dangerous to drop in on someone or be dropped in on. My initial comments were "tongue in cheeck"

However, if I was young an single and girl asked me drop in on her softie then sure

oN THE SERIOUS SIDe there are some place that one surfs that require a degree of edge and these places do not need to be big wave breaks.

due to crowds, long boards, rocks or being a steep 4 foot wave, being laid back, mellow and blissed out can result in no waves or an accident.

repect sometimes is gained by charging. At the end of the day surf where your comfortable and on what your comfortable with...oh and dont drop in!

Hey JDC, believe me, I get the difference between a beginner/intermediate spot and an advanced spot for surfing... I know it's dangerous to have beginners and kooks out at advanced spots or on big days, I've seen people run over each other or get cut off because of it. While it is uncool to drop in, it is even more uncool to be a speedbump in the lineup! javascript:emoticon(':)')

I guess my definition of a "real" surfer is someone who spends a lot of time in the water, swims out and catches waves on some kind of board, and has fun. This is NOT necessarily the same a being a "good" surfer. You can be a not-very-good surfer and ride a soft-top board, but still be "real".
