Incidentally Old Crazy just loves to listen to his collection of old vinyl … sitting back with a long neck of dutch courage and an imagination key … spinning a few disc's and watching the planets collide. He especially likes to listen to … Colostomy Pills Hash and Bong and other sixties super groups. He likes a bit of Cream with his Humble Pie … and with Blind Faith has ended up in Bad Company with Highwaymen and Bad Seeds all caught up in a New Race with Ginger Bakers Air Force and some Withering Travel-berries.
Sitting back under the mango tree and watching the walruss root around in the garden on his quest for more Coopers and his lost gong … and whilst listening to his vinyl collection … the occasional mango landing in close proximity and sometimes even near him … Old Crazy started thinking … the effort was almost unbearable … the noise intolerable and the idea inconceivable. But ...
If the penguins had in fact been abandoned on the island of Flipp … and the escapee was indeed heading north to the land of forgotten opportunity … maybe not to live in the surrounding bushland or parks … but near Parkes … would these two mythical creatures of the plane join forces and create a super group of the like never before witnessed by mortal man … ?
Friar Tuck yelled Old Crazy … this idea has some legs … well maybe it had knees … but it was definitely more than Luke warm … and if it did in fact have knees it could at least Neil. Thats it exclaimed Old Crazy as he leapt up and shook the mangos from his hair … if you can't take David to the mountain … or in this case an island … you bring the island some packing crates and a map.
And as Old Crazy sat back down to contemplate this epiphany … he wondered if walruses could lick their own nuts … and why squirrels put their nuts in knots in tree trunks.
Old Crazy scratched at his nut sack … they were mostly roasted almonds with some pistachios mixed in … grabbed a handful and started to masticate. Ah life's little pleasures thought Old Crazy as he settled in against the tree … opened another ice cold Coopers … grabbed another handful of his nuts and resumed his walruss watching.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand.
While imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

Sir, I think your ramblings could well tarnish the image that I try to present here on this site, indeed that of all walruss's may be jepeordised (how do you spell the f#$%ing thing) I could only take offence at said statements (a gate is just not serious enough). Old Crazy I hereby challenge you to a surf off, starting March 27th through to 28th, and if I could lick my own nuts, I'd only tell you after you've tried them.

Fantastic, another short period swell. Can't wait.
Seriously, I'm praying this'll be the mother of all storms for which we're reckoned to be long overdue. Might clear a couple of billion tons of sand off the bottom down Kirra way.
Hope springs eternal ...

yeah like the trucks the council brought in were going to make a difference, considering they are still pumping sand what a joke. You know the past councils on the gold coast have f**ked every good break up with rock walls, there used to be a left off Currumbin rock breaking into what was the actual Alley[shark alley] between the rock and the mainland and a right off the original point as well as the right off the rock.
The guts [currumbin creek mouth]is no longer with us, burleigh is only a shadow of it's former self, kirra's gone greenmount doesn't break like it used to. And yet the masses still come. All these decisions made by people that don't know anything about the ocean.

Trucks ... what trucks ... it was one lonely trucking truck (insert the F where appropriate) ... the bulldozer-diggy-thing-a-me-jig waited for the lone trucker to return ... filled him up and waited again ... one almighty frocking joke.
Anyways that big clockwise swirly wind pattern that has been whipping up a bit of a frenzy of late ... looks like hitting the oarstralyin coast far enough up the map so that the areas from No-sir Heads through to Sufferers Parasite and down into norther NSW should (maybe could) be spared from the out of control storm surf, and instead cop some rather large long range swell type of stuff. Will depend on the wind conditions as to weather its quality or junk. We will have to endure some inclement precipitation and winds with gusto ... but maybe just maybe if the planets align, we could be in for a very good time.
Although I would dearly love to see a monstrous storm gouge out all that naughty sand from Kirra ... it would also smash the Ally and the Greenmount banks, which incidentally are finally starting to return from oblivion after their previous beating last year.
Old Crazy is scratching at the screen door ... he can smell something cooking out there ... and after all he is the expert of out-there ... way out there ... on the edge even ... waiting ... watching ... and wondering ... he is truly the thinking mans lunatic ... or maybe the drinking mans lunatic ... or the stinking mans tuna lick ... tuna mans drinking stick ... or maybe he's just the drinking tunas thinking man ... I give up ... you go figure it out ... no ... no wait ... the thinking tunas drinking ham ... no man ... hey ... there could be some waves heading this way ... thats all I really need to say.

I have a photo of that, taken from the look out I think! (I took a photo of it below. Not the best quality but....)analbirth wrote: there used to be a left off Currumbin rock breaking into what was the actual Alley[shark alley] between the rock and the mainland and a right off the original point as well as the right off the rock.
Hi, just joined the forum and glad to see there are still a few of us left in the surfing world. I have actually seen a few kneelos in the water recently which is refreshing. Anyone here surf Flat Rock at Currumbin/Tugun on a semi regular basis?
Im wanting to get back into it after a few injuries and frankly, got sick of getting up for the early only to be disappointed with what awaited me. I lost motivation. I am pretty selective with what I surf which dosent make it any easier.
Just ordered a new board from DP. First new board in 20yrs and hoping it gives me back a little more motivation for the early search. Should be easier to paddle and more like an earlier DP board I loved.
Im hoping this cyclone comes in and smashes the beaches. I want it back to how it was in the 80's at Palmy. 5' shorey peaks, long fast mid breaks and out the back bombies. Bring it on!
Anyway, just thought I pop in and say Hello!
The Alley back in the day...

Hello hello what ave we ear ... another unwashed child of the revolution ... as Johnny Rotten once said ... never trust a hippy ... but as Old Crazy always says Viva La Revulsion.
Welcome back to the dark ages ... you long haired flower child mung bean eating freak ... Mickhippy and Old Crazy should get along just fine ... like Catweasel and Don Quioxte ... Abbott and Costello ... maybe not like the Mad Abbott and the Krudd Monster ... but then again there's always hoping.
If its suffering around the ally and its assorted beachies you is gunna be ... then more than likely you will see the Crazy one flapping around ... howling at the loons and communing with nature ... say hello ... then back away slowly ... make no sudden movements and when at a safe distance call the irrelevant authorities ... harmless nut job my arse.

G'day Mick. I'm more north end at the moment. I can understand your injury problems and desire to surf good waves without crowds. I have a new son keeping me busy at the moment as well as breadwinning duties but am occasionally up for a paddle. It's always a blast to get in the water in company with another lowered centre of gravity type. When do you pick up the new board?
