He was a kneeboarder Nick Edwards formerly from the Gold Coast, leaves behind a young family. Not a good way to go but at least he was doing what he loved when his time came.
once you've had black you'll never go back!!!

Guys - it doesn't look like a knee board to me in the photos. It looks like a DHD stand-up - maybe about 6'10. sad news. The fact that he would have lost a lot of blood swimming back to the rocks and didn't get hit again re-inforces the idea that the shark had a taste and was not impressed. if they liked our flavour, we'd all be rooted. RIP.

Waka thanks for your post.
The type of board doesn't make any difference.
Looking at the photos you have to say those are perfect shark attack conditions: overcast, been raining, seals in the water. Thing is, with pumping, empty surf on offer ... how many of us would have stayed in the carpark?
The account of the attempts to save the victim was heartbreaking.
