Hamakua side near the town of Honokaa. i'm not shitting you when i tell you this buggah was at least 400lbs. i had a 12' ulua rod and a 6.0 loaded with 80# test and it was strained to the limit. one way you can tell it's a shark is when they swim straight away from you and you feel the huge tail "strum" the line. feels like a huge bass string
sharks are rather dull to catch IMO. we have lots of other fish here that are good size and fight like crazy and are awesome to eat.
much easier to get the hooks out as well. :D

http://www.ulua-fishing.com/. go to the forums and see if you can get some intel on the best spots. most of the guys on this site are really cool and will even take you fishing with them. i'm a moderator there.....96743 is me 8)
if you ever make it over to Hawaii (Big Isle) i can get you some reel fish 8)

Birthday session in Mex this morning, BM was HH, with OH+ sets :P
A little junky, but the SE wind held in just long enough for us to have a great session with lots of waves. Once again we were the only ones out - got some gems for the birthday.

After that, horsehoes, beer and tequila at Bob Goves trailer in Rosarito. Can't ask for more fun than that, can I??

Bleaugh, it was terrible here this morning.

I went in the NN boardriders Opens standing up (on the kneelo), missed out getting through to the semi by one place (4/6). The waves were really lumpy, bumpy and generally all-round nasty, I was having real trouble keeping my board glued to the wave. :(

Stingray was probably a Batray

Post by Casey Patelski »

Skasand, if it was 50 lbs, it was probably a batray. They have big eyes and a head that bumps up above the body, unlike a sting ray. I have caught a few in Newport Bay also in the past. Super strong fish, and harmles, unlike the stingray. Got mine on squid too.

PS try it in a float tube, it'll take ya skiing! Total blast.

A surf club I belonged to held Surf n' Turf Contests: you surf a heat then play 9 holes of golf.

What about a KB/Fishing tourney?
