I put my fins on in the car and walk down to the water with them on. It's not so bad once you get used to it.

Hi Andrew

Most recently I had a fin that my foot was encased in and could be put on quite easily in the water - so I waded out to chest high and slipped it on. When going off rocks, I would get to just before the launch area and put it on.

Recently I have changed fins that now use tethers. I sit on the beach and put the fins on, tie tethers and walk front on to the water. I then go at 45 degress to the water, back out, with my board facing forward and eventually kangaroo forward.

I have tried walking straight in and found it uncomfortable.

As most previous respondents have said, it is whatever works for you.

cheers Damien
