G`day Doc, my first ever waterproof camera and 2nd digital camera is a Vivitar ViviCam 6200W. It`s the yellow one on the Sealife link.
Look almost identical except for the colour-mine was only rated to 60feet.
I found that the images were hit & miss. The AUTO setting rarely worked well, but i did get good results using the SPORT setting.
Only had it a few months, in the water maybe 4 or 5 times for a total of 10-12 hours.
Shutter button used to stick and d`loading to my computer was getting slower & slower.
It stopped working altogether, and was still under warranty, but looked like a hassle and at least a small expense sending it back.
So i pulled it apart myself. Salt water was getting in through the shutter button, leaving salt and corrosion over the electronics and travelling down the side to the USB port.
It`s possible i didn`t clean it out properly after use. Just don`t know.
Other down sides to the Vivitar--no optical zoom.
slow shutter speed.
Had a look at some reviews recently for models i`d seen in shops or heard about.
One of the reasons i bought the Fujifilm(same price range), is that it has a good range of shutter speeds.
I`m a total amateur when it comes to cameras and photography, though i`ve picked up some handy info through this forum, the net and walking around shops.
Mighty grateful to everyone, as i`m loving learning new things post middle age.
