mornin all,

Doc s came down and we had a chat and a grovel in the am.
The south picked up in the pm,waist to shoulder + head h. and some on the bigger sets
The wind was on the north reefs,so had to surf in town.40 plus on 5 peaks, mostly decoys and buoys sitting inside.Good target practice
Three hr session, pretty much had my choice of waves, and got all I needed
Swell is suppose to peak today, and the wind may go north e.Would like to get something a bit bigger.
Smallest summer surf we.ve had up this way in along time.

cheers

The Newport-River Jetty area was pumping out the barrells today! We had a solid swell, 4-8ft faces combined with strong Santa Ana Winds. It was Shack city!

The backside of PV had waves this morning. Long head high lefts wrapping in around the point. Too bad waves are such a limited resource up here during the summer. I counted about 40 heads before I paddled out. Still fun though.

Mark, ditto buddy,we passed up the southern stretch and scored perfect long peaks at Seal Beach River Jetty.12 guys out. Solid 4-8 foot faces with unreal shape.I'm thinking of catching an afternoon "bug" and hotting Bolsa Chica.

Glad you guys are getting some great surf!

There's some swell here on the North Shore today but it's "knee high to a kneeboarder"

(Why doesn't the image come up? :? )

Sounds like alot of fun Hueneme did pretty much the same thing .

Decided to take the day off and didn't paddle out until about 10 but the wait paid off .

The tide filled in and the Santa Ana's kicked up to around 25to 35 knots
there where a few bombers coming thru nice and hollow.

The water went from 72 deg. Saturday to about 58 to 60 deg. today

At least I got about four strait bare back sessions though. :D

Knee'd Mission Beach yesterday morning @ 6:10a. Perfect conditions. SW and NW combo. Max SW sets were approaching 8ft faces. Got pitched on one set, double washing machine treatment, hit bottom and board to the head (no blood). Got some awesome tubes, foot surfers paid comps. Who was the KB'er out at Mouses (So end of parking lot)?

Yes, Bud, the F2K works great :!: :!: :!: Best shaks I've got on it so far.... Plus the lip bashes.

Mission Beach on sept 21

Post by walt davidson »

Hi Yogisurf, That was me surfing at Mission Beach - When I got
there I saw a kneeboarder get a nice wave and I thought: cool
there's another kneeboarder out. But I didn't see you after I went out.

I got some fun waves - I didn't go over the falls, but I didn't make it
out of a big shallow tube and got all the wind knocked out of me. Then
I took off on a wave - thought I was tucking under the lip, but got drilled
right in the back - got the Dr. Lerner treatment (chiropractic) -
except it didn't work and now I feel like I have whiplash...
:? It's great getting old!

Still you're right - nice surf - lots of tubes. Maybe I'll see you there again -
regards, walt

(I didn't know where I was surfing had a name - thought it was
all just Mission Beach!)

Cool Walt. I thought the chances of you seeing my post were slim and none, but either way, they paid off.

I think your board is white-topped. I saw you get a sweet left.

I paddle around trying to stay away from the crowd (which was very light). I was mostly between 13ths (life guard station) and Canes.

I have pressure dings on some of my boards from by head being slammed into the the deck. Nothing like seeing stars.

Since you're a self labled 'old guy' (me too) you might remember when Belmont Park had rides in that lot. The very south ride was a roller coaster type ride with cars that had a mouse's head. Hence Mouses. We still call it that.

I surf mostly North County during the summer and Mission during the winter on small swells.

See you there again soon. I drive a beigh (sic?) 4Runner with a Blast decal on the back window.

The surf in Florida is well overhead right now with a hurricane groundswell. Unfortunately the wind is on it too. I surfed Sebastian Inlet on my Flashpoint and had a fun session. The first peak was overwedging a bit with the northeast windswell, making really fun ramps from the refraction off of the jetty. No airs for me, but super easy redirectional hits with no loss of speed.
we're getting ready for yet another hurricane to track into our community.

Kman'

The south basically died at OB, knee or thigh high at best and very weak. Glad you found some surf though

south

Post by K-man »

s,

Interesting, this swell just popped up,been watching it for afew days. This place is unique.Like cronkhite this place sucks in the S.Unlike the city this place faces south to southwest.Must be the direction-wetsand is calling for another small one in afew days. And sometimes these predictions are a little off,as in this case.
Vigilance is essential.!!

cheers
