Glassy rights.3 +hrs....and a grinding 20 min uphill walk  Now were back in the usual NW wind pattern.Still a small south pulse, maybe catch a few in town this evening...before Ken gets here and grabs the good ones...

Looks pretty good for this weekend.Always on the weekend... Last few swells have been decent with less than a handful of folks on the north reefs. These spots love the south/nw combo...wedgy.Sounds this next south could be another decent one, with another right behind it.sat/sun into monday.Off to cron in the AM for a low tide session.
Bet OB was decent this morning...bob?anyone?
Santa cruzers have been real quiet???And where's the caveman?Got a haircut and he and his momma moved to winnemucca....

Mr K, the Drift was pretty good on Saturday as the tide and swell filled in at the same time, just 5 of us on it at most. Figured you were at that place with the long hike.

 flat, flat, flat, but calm winds this AM

pulled the plug...

Check out SurfPulse's report

"Bienvenidos a Lago Pacifico! Amigos, we have a very special deal for you today. Come down to Lago Pacifico, enjoy strolling on our wide, sandy beaches—maybe you will find some shells and sand dollars (which are worth more than our own currency). Watch off-leash dogs scare endangered little birds. Try surf-fishing for some of our special mercury-laden stripers. Use our bonfire pits to warm you up on a chilly summer overcast morning. In the afternoon, when the sun may come out and the winds will certainly pick up, you can try parasailing. And if you want to learn to surf, we have the perfect conditions for you–but this special deal is only for today and maybe a few more days this week. We have the perfect beginner waves here at Lago Pacifico today, ankle to knee high and soft as a tortilla. Bring a longboard and give it a try, but beware: Lago Pacifico still can have strong currents and big teethy predators. Lago Pacifico is an adventure of a lifetime!"

Just a little burp, and we're in business :D

Made the drive down from NorCal to Santa Barbara for a family event, and slipped up to Jalama this morning. Really had fun in the glassy, 3-5' surf. 25 guys out at Tarantula's, but still found a peak with just a few guys. Also ran into kneelo master Rob Salfen on the beach walking back from his session (surfing his 5'2" square tail with fins all the way back). Visited him in his lifeguard tower (his job there all summer), then had a quick 30 minute paddle out session with him in the closeout shorebreak.

Just a really nice time in waves very different from Santa Cruz in the summer.

Woooooooooooo, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed. Hopefully it will be big enough to keep most of the locals out. Four days in a row, unheard of!

Florida today is 4' @ 14 seconds and building. Chest to hh but lots of closeouts because most of Florida can't handle long period groundswell. I dp'd it and got a few fun ones!

As usual the swell dropped, but had a couple good days. This morning about 8am it starting cranking nice peaks, plenty of tubes to be had. Funny though, water is 72, air is high 80's, and 65% of the people are wearing short sleeve full suits. It does makes it easier to tell who I can possibly take off on. Still waiting to see what the hurricanes over here bring over this week.

Had some nice ones today in OC, MD. One heavy tube about four seconds long, then another couple seconds during the closeout. Not as rad of a drop as SS Seal Beach, but the pounding I took at the end was the same. Going to stay overnight and ride out the hurricane. They have called for a hurricane warning, and I have never been in one. 8)

It's the most humidity you've ever experienced. Other that, not very exciting unless you enjoy power outages. Keep a flashlight handy, and keep your phone and laptop on the charger until the power goes.
Where that storm is positioned, you've got a good chance for a cleanup as the SW Quadrant will be blowing straight offshore.
