Coloured Carbon

Post by ss54 »

[SS. have you seen the new carbon/poly weave? 6oz twill the carbon in one diagonal the poly in the other comes in different flavors iv'e seen red and blue, it shimmers, looks incredible sposed to be strong too. The poly is recycled tarps. Would look amazing on your spoons ]Cheers AB[/quote]

With regards to the coloured Carbon,NO mate have not seen or heard of
anything along those lines
But is understandable,considering where I live. . . W.A actually stands for
Wait Awhile,not Western Australia. . .
Can you give a few details,as to the manufacturer,or distributor. . . ?
How long has it been available in the Eastern States?
Thanks for the "heads-up",on the new product,AB

ss, some pics of the carbon poly hybrid twill cloth, pete has flown the coop to NZ for a week will get contact details when he returns it's a 50/50 6 oz
better suited to vac bagging or hand lay under glass due to sanding issues as mentioned prev. Cheaper than full carbon around 35 plus gst / m for 1000mm width AB

Carbon Hybrid Cloth

Post by ss54 »

AB,thanks for giving us all a flash
The Blue/Black combo is bloody nice,is it not?
I also notice the C/F thread runs longways(as you'd expect)
Don't know if it would work with my boards,BUT with the Kinetics Epoxy-really clear, where the R300 I use with standard hardener would probably dull the VIVID colours of the Hybrid.
(Comes out a light blue/green colour)
BUT on you guys Foam Boards, would be STUNNING
Plus at $30 a metre,well worth a burle
Any plans in the future for you to give it a whirl??

ss thinking about it as a patch layer in the flex tail as for doing a whole board, if somebody want's it would do the deck as an insert but to sacrifice performance for looks nah, i like the flat weave 200 g it's got a great feel but will get some feed back from some end users and ya never know. Does look unreal though AB

you couldn't go the new colours - you'd have to change your motto....

"better red than dead"...."blue lips , blue veins, blue is the colour of my board from far far away"

AB ...

once you've had black you'll never look back
add a bit of blue ... now I'm sure that will do
well ... maybe I should put on a flex tail to
back to the future ... don't know about you

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand.
While imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

Hey there Little Cripple. your too kind Mate. Can you believe it ,THE BEAST has been put out to pasture, to mutate even more. I now have a FLEX TAIL too .Tis ohhhh soooo pretty. With, the proper fin set up ----FEEL THAT DRIVE. Don't want to tell too many tho, otherwise, I won't have an advantage. I need an advantage ,being OLD ,FAT,SLOW,THINNING,WRINKLY and SINKING .Got Paul Armstrong of EXPRESS SURFBOARDS to make it, He's back on the scene. Matty G's on em. Congrats to Shane,Matty.Yourself and Albertty at PI.

I've been surfing it as a 5 fin set up with a Peter Crawford centre fin, and, as a thruster, with a Peter Berry, GIGANTIC, centre fin. Looks FAR OUT to say the least. Double the DRIVE , Soooooooo LOOK OUT.

G'day Rob,
Wondering if you remember a spoon rider from Cronulla Pt by the name of
Mick Guiney? Hi,after all these years.Robbie McLaggen, used to do my boards back then.
Left Cronulla in '83 for S.A,& onto Pt Lincoln for 10+ years, now over in W.A-
Margaret River region. . .
Got in contact with Ian Urquart via Tony Wales on this site,& there is a
Cronulla Pt reunion next October,if you or anyone else is interested. . .
I've hooked up with Steve Rice of Sealines in Capel,& we do the carbon& epoxy(+ a bit of Innegra) spoons there.+ Vac Bagging them as well.
The boards' design & materials have come such a long way since the Cronulla Days. G.G was good enough to give me glassing diagrams, design set-ups etc, years ago now,& that was a great help. . .
So you'r still competing after all these years, power to ya. . .
Anyway Rob,All the best,
Mick G

Hey There Crox, Mate, I would post some pics, But I have no idea how to do it. Sorry.
And to ss54, Mick how's it hanging? Far East Man.It has been a Long time.
Maybe 37 years or so. Was the last time, our Durras trip with Rabbi, or maybe, Stright Arrows[Colin Cooksey's] party at Mosman ,when his mum kept interupting you and your girl in your room?
Still Spooning . Impressive. Where is the favourite break and how often can you get wet ? And know G.G. ,not bad Mickie. The closest I got to him was in Flat Rock car park ,Ballina way, He was getting changed and I saw his DOODLE. s*&^, not that I'm gay ,but that, and when I touched Neil Young on his hand, thru the wire fence, at a concert signing. What could be better?
Mick you still haven't tried a full foam board, and if not ,why not?
Good to hear from ya ,Be lovely, and BOW DOWN TO MOTHER OCEAN..
