This thread has the lot, the kids squabbling, the righteous bystander and now the threat of bed without dinner.

All the i's dotted and the t's crossed.

It's here! And from my brief experience with it so far, it's fun!

Thanks to everyone for their advice, especially the (wishes to remain anonymous) designer, the young lads at McDermott Shapes in Maine that put it together for me, and Bud for the rockin' deck pad!

FYI- 5'6"x23.25"x2.5"

Looks pretty good for being made in Maine. Did they even know what kneeboarding was?

Ha! They had a vague idea. But these guys also shaped the now infamous "wave skis" that Chuck Patterson rode at Jaws--so I figured they were up for trying new things.

I guess there's also something to be said for bringing new shapers into the fold!

I just left the east coast after surfing there for five years, 98% of people never heard of kneeboarding, which is acceptable. I was out the other day in Newport, CA. and a guy asked me how I stood up with flippers on, not acceptable.

Hey Mike

I first stumbled on this site a while back and was intrigued. Then last year at Nauset Light beach on Cape Cod I ran into a bearded guy kneeboarding on a converted surfboard. He was ripping it up pretty good. At that point I was starting to get tired of bodyboarding--which was also starting to hurt my back. I was sold! A nice note--all the surfers were asking this guy about his choice of surfcraft, and they were sincerely interested.

As a fan of niche sports (I alpine or hardboot snowboard too), I can say we're often our own best ambassadors. And honestly, when everyone else is doing the same thing, doing something different and unexpected looks pretty cool.
