Hey Mike,
Good call on the annual leave! You caught two swells on the nose!
Nice pics, too.

Thanks KB, it was luck they were on my days off. I still have vacation coming. I am waiting for a N'Easter and going to Montauk for a week hopefully, or surfing Rockaway NYC for a week on a good swell.

Mike,
Would like to join you if you go to NY/LI, but will need a better wetsuit! Heading back to SNC for Turkey Day, planning to look at suits. What's your fav for winter in NJ/NY?

My Oneill PsychoII 6/4mm is a great suit. I have surfed 20degree air, 41 water, overcast, and survived for three hours. Could have gone four, but the waves were slowly coming in. Too much sitting around. Need some 5mil gloves and booties also. I have different fins for the 5mil booties. You need a huge pocket.
Also, at this stage, there is no peeing in the wetsuit unless your really hardcore

About 30 oiled birds picked off stinson/beaches.The number of dead birds won't be known for awhile
Did a seabird survey, rocky point to duxburry reef [about 3 miles]out to about 3 miles, while the light was good.About three k. birds[several species] The slicks are intermittent and not solid, which helps.Next few days should see a rise in mortality/oiling.
Muir beach got hit pretty heavy.Local and a crew from the zen center[trained in hazmat]proceeded to clean the beach from morning till almost dark. The officials showed up late afternoon and told them to leave..It was explained that they were traine personnel. After a few words they had the local cuffed, face down on an oily beach, for an hr,waiting for backup...
Sh_ts going to hit the fan.The reefs are closed to the public.

Mike,
Thanks for the tip.
BTW, I don't plan to pee in your wetsuit :D
But if it's 20F out I might warm mine up a bit. 8)

KB, I meant that at the stage that your wearing a 6/4 and 5mil booties and gloves, there is about zero water circulation in the suit, so go ahead and pee all you want, I just want to see you get into your car after taking your suit off, it should start smelling really good after you turn on the heater

Small, rideable here.Cronkhite, stinson, and one outer reef still closed.Kids snuck out downtown, and got a few tar balls in the hair..
Oddly enough the next reef north had no oil at all...nothing.The crowd's been concentrated there...Had a dozen or so,on that last swell.Plenty of room for all.

Found this,halfway down.......
