Yesterday, morning air temp 49 indian summer????
The reefs were pretty good.Med ebb to the bottom 3-5,sets. bigger today-5.9@19...9.4@7 interesting swell combo,May be some nice n-s wedgey peaks.5 folks on three peaks, down to two of us for another 2hrs.You want this one?Naw...you go love it.
Some new ones migrated from town to the reef, and proceeded to get decently hammered, washed down the reef in the impact zone, and got stuck in the divots and pinnacles, some of which are 3-6 deep Humbled, but not hurt, minor scrapes, and one huge ding on a brand new rusty.Se la vie.....
One of you city boys surf kellys yesterday?A friend said he saw a KB er getting some good ones in the corner.
cheers

today
Huntington Beach, CA. USA
Friday morning at 6:30AM.
SURF:
4-7 ft. - shoulder high to 2 ft. overhead with occasional 8 ft. and fair-good conditions.
AM UPDATE:Sets are a couple feet overhead and seeing a strong side current. Conditions are fair with calm wind but there’s a lot of energy in the water right now making 6-10ft waves give a lot of push and powerful walled shape with some corners now that the tide is going up. Enough inconsistency to still paddle out and wait for the macking sets.
Newport Beach, CA. USA
"The Wedge"
SURF:
8-12 ft. - 3 ft. overhead to double overhead + with occasional 15 ft. and good conditions.
AM UPDATE:The wedge is going off and 10-15ft+ waves are macking out there on the sets. Shape is getting backwashy with high tide hitting but lots of push and plenty of swell. Enough inconsistency to still paddle out and wait for the macking sets.

Update from Norcal. Weather and surf have been classic the last few days. Water and air temps been abit chilly I broke out the hooded 5/4 saturday morning. I surfed friday and saturday at OB. Both days very clean 12 to 15 sec swell. Friday was fun head high. I got in the water just as Don, Bob, and Bill L were leaving. Saturday size jumped into the solid 8' to 10' and got bigger as the day went on. Got a few good ones but also got a few solid beat downs as well. Pretty solid current pulling south. You gotta pay to play sometimes. Very clean. As I left the beach at about Noon, Sloat was firing with clean, bowly 10' to 12' sets and a doable paddle. I saw a sponger pull a pretty impressive el rollo right under a nice 10' plus lip, stick the landing pull into a tube and come out on the shoulder. Wished I had some energy left to paddle out there.
Todays swell is running 8.9' at 17 secs. Solid, solid DOH++ sets all over the place and what looks like an epic paddle out, a bit too heavy for my skill level. SC is likely pretty fun and slightly smaller.
Weather looks decent for the next week or so I am doing work, let the swell drop a bit and try to hit it early and mid week.
Saw two broken boards Saturday, gotta wonder what its going to cost to replace those puppies

Didnt get to go to blacks this early morning
but went to torrey pines mid morning and could see the the waves at blacks from the north end!!
Torrey when i first saw it had a nice loong right peeling off into a closeout
and a nice gnarly left death pit
then tide dropped even more and it all went crap
still got one good left though
so i was satisfied
- anyone who hit blacks early morning
was it fun?
