Surfline is calling for bigger (40' at best breaks i.e mavs) with light winds. What is the waiting period for the Mavs contest?

They are calling for gale force NW winds on Lake Erie Sunday night, snow and sleet, waves 3-5ft building to 10-13. Water temp 41, still good for my 6/4mm Psycho II. Looks like I will finally surf a Great Lake on Monday/Tuesday, and the bonus... I won't have to rinse off my wetsuit!

Surfed amid snow flurries yesterday. Head high, brisk offshores, air temp 35, water temp a balmy 47 degrees. Not enjoyable  Today, South winds 60 m.p.h. plus, S.W. swell 21 ft. and building. GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE :!: :!: :!:

Looked at Shelter Cove earlier today...whatever groundswell there might've been was completely hidden by big south winds just shredding the surface..Cooskie Mountain has been recording some rather impressive wind gusts lately...
It's already good tomorrow...

Got 1030 millibars on my barometer, that's pretty high.Winds starting to move around the card, hopefully wake in the morning to clean conditions.

Shelter cove!Haven't up there for a long while. We had a surf contest there about 67.It's all sort of fuzzy, but I remember having fun!

Hey K-man, Shelter Cove has changed alot since '67! It finally got discovered...in '67 there might've been 20 houses, now there are many more...anyway, barometer is back up to 1020mb here, pouring rain, probably have 8 inches in the last 24 hrs, hydroelec plant is officially ON...swell up here is rather large it sounds like..Three surfers got washed off the North Jetty in Eureka but all OK...Looks like a good time to be south of here!
It's already good tomorrow...
