We are and it is. The problems only arise when we have to leave the water and are forced to come into contact with all the angry worker bees who've been tricked into working their life away for the production of honey (gold?) as they fly by in their shiny monuments to societal progression. An old roomate of mine was talking to some random guy looking at the waves as he pulled up to check the surf and during the course of their conversation, the aging, overweight wealthy man said to Jim, "You know, I have a great house, a nice car, and all the money I need, but if I was your age again I would do things differently." One stranger confiding to another. It's something I will never forget.

Beeline, I knows it's off topic, but I love the Suess illustration. I do wish I was born with duckfeet. For now I will have to make do with prosthetics.

I would like to do proselitism here in Italy.
Did it waste hard work?

Hey Duke

do you find waves along the Italian coast?

is it just wind swell and onshorish or do you get offshore conditions?

i remember once seeing some reasonable 2 footers break at a beach on the south side of Crete

Ive become hooked on watching Inspector Montilbano - great sub- titled TV - imagine surfing Sicily 8)

Yes we have some waves!!!
In may home spot near Rome has surfed Occy in the past...
The best waves are in Sardegna and Sicilia. Also in the North there are waves (Ed Quinn has surfed in Varazze...I believe....I remember an interview in Windsurf Italia Magazine)

ciao

Ciao Duke!

is there a surf season?

I am thinking it would not be so hard to convince the Mrs about a surf holiday to Italy 8)

Europe

dorje

I have surfed Italy while I worked there..

and as with all landlocked seas..there is no ground-swell to speak of.

If you want to surf the Mediterranean then Israel is a consideration and so is the North of Africa.

That way you aren't just surfin wind-swell and doing a lot of duck-diving as a result.

Better still, take your wife to Paris before Rome..and that way..with a train ride in-between..

You can surf an Ocean beforehand.

PS

caio Duke..your Country is beautiful :D

Ciao Dorje/Hart

I know that the Mediterranean is not an OCEAN!!! :(
But it's possible to surf here and have some fun especially in Sardegna (Capo Mannu in the West Coast) from September to June.
I remember the Italian Guru Tour (Quiksilver Europe Jeff Hackman,
Dave Kalama and Rusty Keaulana) with some nice days of surf.(3 meters)
Dorje Paris is beautiful but Italy and especially Rome are UNIQUE in the world!!
I love my city!!!eh eh
Naturally all the Italian surfers start to surf here and after...Travel,Travel,Travel (Cote Basque in primis)
The two best Italian surfers are Federico Pilurzu(now living in Costa Rica) and Paolo D'Angelo (now living in.....Australia!)
Hart where do you surf in Italy?Which is the best board for the Italian "conditions"?(Kneeboard obviously)
Thank you in advance
ciao Dorje/Hart see you in Rome
Please support my passion!! 8)
