Wetsuit advice please

Post by halbs »

Hi I'm after some advice from the US guys in regard to Jetpilot wetties, basically are they any good, as they seem well priced and from the net they look OK? but really what is the quality, I am looking for a wetty in the long sleeve springy style any advice would be great, cheers Grant
getting there is often as good as getting there

Jetpilot wetsuits

Grant,

I've never even heard of JetPilot wetsuits, but I swear by Hotline wetsuits. The Hotlines are a little pricey but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

PS I don't get any special deal with Hotline, I pay full price just like everyone else.

Grant -

It looks like the target market for Jet Pilot is the wakeboarders and PWC riders ... maybe that will help your search. I actually have one of their PFD's. In this area they're sold out of sporting good stores and thru costco at certain times of the year.

Anyone know if rubber cement will hurt new wetsuit neoprene? I have to customize my wettie, glue some velcro on the hoodie to keep my goggles in place. Any ideas? Not sure if they still sell wetsuit repair glue, but they don't sell it around here anyway.

I use Aquasure for repairs and mods
Image

dries clear-ish and in small volumes it is relatively soft
used as a thin smear is best
but
can be used as a filler ... the bigger the blob, the more you feel it is harder than a suit

Mike, you should be able to find the regular neoprene cement at most dive shops, I've also used the Aquasure that Kev recommended and it works real good. Sold here under the name Aquaseal, among others, and can be found in some outdoor stores in the shoe section.

Mike.... I use this stuff called "Neoprene cement" from Block surf. I get it from Surf Ride. 4oz for 7.95.... the stuff works for me.

jetpilot as mentioned is a wakeboard/waterski brand. started more recently marketing to surfers. haven't tried any of their products. i would buy a wetuite online unless i knew I could wear a specific size from a manufacturer. no wetsuite brand fits the same.

wetsuit repair question: i use the good old Seal Cement, works great, you get like 10 times as much as aqua seal for the same price
