one of my bodyboarding videos has Paul ROach(legendary dkr) mention a waist leash system...that second photo looks like a spoon....

OK, so you didn't mean carbon fiber. Velo was fiberglass, pre-carbon. I'm sure Flexman can give you a full answer.
