Not all tris are thrusters.
I kind of like tri fins with a small back fin.
Australia's Mark Richards, who rode twin fins for most of his competitive career, was recently playing around with "Super Twins", a twin fin setup with a small trailing fin.

Or so the rumor goes...

Bee, I think your gonna need some more categories and more labels. A board could be a twin and not be a fish, could have 5 fins and not be a bonzer or C-5, could have 4 fins and be anything but a twinzer, could be a quan, or a speed dialer, could be a..... hew boy.

I thought what they now call a 2+1 set up ,fu box with fcs rail fins was called a tri fin set up in the early seventies. Single fin with two smaller fins either slightly forward of the center fin or even with the leading edge of the center fin or is that to be considered a fin and a half?

twinzers

Post by K-man »

Still a hard core group of twinzer riders around the area.Claim they accelerate quicker off the bottom.Buzz word seems to be others don't like them because they don't make enough spray
Mine was made by john mel about 91-92?as a kneeboard.
Setup..Rail fins up 9'' from tail, trailing edge 7/8''in from rail. fins toed out 2'' off nose. small leading fin[single peg] up 14-1/2'' from tail..1-1/4'' in. and slightly more toed in than the rail fin.
22'' wide, full outline,no rocker 1/1/4 in the tail.Fat.2-7/8.Fastest board I 've ever rode. But turning it... Had to grab the rail up the nose whip it around while sticking my other arm in the wave for assistance
Too many torn ligaments.if I didn't get it right.
Out of control in anything over 3 ft.
Wound up sticking in an extra forward plug,Put the rail fins forward, turning it into a quasi quad.Turned better after that.

cheers
