....you are slipping into a tight little barrel only to realise you are in the shore break, you have run out of water, you rip out both Speed Fins on the reef and the ding repair guy charges you $180 to fix the damage.

ah oh

Dane

I take it that when you and I left the water at cylinders after the frustration of shitty little 1 to 2 ft you headed only 1 car park to the west and paddled out at Beacon :?:

I passed you in the car park after my short 3 wave session at lightenings one further car park along...but a paddle back towards to Beacon

I noticed a furrow on the brow

I hope you can get it back in the water fast whatever the cost cos the next few days are lookin good

still

I admire your never say die zest at the attempt...rocky shore break and all

you are droping in on a 10 '+ face and there is a guy in front of you paddling to get out of the impact zone (or worse a head pops up in front of you and its a body surfer). what to do? run em over and possibly they get hurt? or go over the falls and take a beating yourself? what to do what to do? but it happens all the time

ahhh

Kava,

I had that happen to me.

I rode into a rare clean inside tube section at WindanSea, where I expected a final thrashing onto the sand. That's when a bodysurfer popped up out of nowhere.

I pulled the ejection handle, which resulted in my third compressed vertebrae.

The alternative would have been messy... something like 'Nearly Headless Nick' in Harry Potter.

99.999% of the time there's a way out. Not that time.

Or worse still: 2nd go out on new John Mel fish (approx 1972?) on tiny waves at The Lane. Stuff it in front of the cliff and leash just long enough for board to slap flat against the cliff and fold up like it had a hinge. Lots of repair work and it never was close to right...
